WRUP Stuff

I didn't pay much attention to gaming news this week. There was a kind of behind the scenes deal I read about Star Citizen that talks of how the game handles it's enormous scale so well. Which was interesting because the devs are actually creating new technology in order to maintain high levels of detail without load screens and minimal texture pop-in. I'll say this though -For as much money that's been sunk into that game, it had better come out blowing people's minds and not just their wallets. Read more

AJ’s Picks: The 12 Best Games of the 2010s

With the end of 2019, the 2010s also finally came to a close. And now that I've looked back on all the great games of 2019, it's time to take a look back at the decade as a whole and talk about the titles that really stood out as the very best of the best. The trouble with Lucasarts is that there aren’t very many games that are adventures that I can talk about in a year. Oh. There’s probably a way I could do that, but it would mean stretching twelve titles [or so] across the whole year with some kind of filler for the other weeks where I need to write something. And while I think I could make a case for writing about the movies Lucasarts made, too, I’m not sure I have the stomach for talking about the Star Wars Holiday Special.

So. That leaves us with quantity and Sierra made a TON of games in the late eighties and early nineties.

Let’s get to that, then.

AJ’s 4 In February: Cinque di Febbraio

Well, January's over which means its time for 4 in February again. I'm sure you all know the drill - - pick any 4 games you wish and complete them before the month is out. Simple, right? Well, not as simple as you might expect. I personally haven't been able to do it yet, in four attempts. And I doubt this fifth year will be much different.

I've still gotta try, though. Nobody likes a quitter, right? Anyway, this year being a leap year means I get a whole extra day in which to do it! Will it make the difference? Maybe. It all depends on the games. So let's take a look at what I'll be playing this year.
