New Nintendo eShop Releases: Lord of Magna

After last month's spectacular Mega May on the Nintendo eShop, it's not surprising to see things slow down a little. This week, there isn't a whole lot to choose from. The one title that does look interesting is a turn-based JRPG for the 3DS. The game is called Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven. You can read more about it here, or by clicking the link to the Nintendo page for it below. Also out this week is the Angry Video Game Nerd...game (for the 3DS as well), and a Pac-Man puzzle game for the Wii U Super Nintendo Virtual Console. Wait for your turn, select your target, and then  jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

  • Pac-Attack (Super Nintendo Virtual Console) (Bandai Namco Games, 2 players, simultaneous, $7.99)

PlanetSide 2 Drops On PS4 June 23rd

More than 2 years after the PC release, PlanetSide 2 finally comes to the PS4.  It will launch on June 23rd, so make sure to fill up your friends list until then. The MMO shooter can be quite fun alone, but it really shines when you get together with 500 of your closest friends to tear shit up.
Despite it being an online only shooter, PS+ will not be required for the free to play title, and if you are already familiar with PlanetSide 2 on the PC, then Andy Sited, Director of Development, has this for you: “We’ve also incorporated some unique features that are currently exclusive to the PS4 version, which for example, include the new battle map, Koltyr.”

Are you looking forward to PlanetSide2? Would you like to see a Twinstiq Squad when this game launches? Tell us in the comments.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Skulls of the Shogun

Skulls of the Shogun hits the PS4 this week. I never actually got around to playing it on any other platforms, but according to Wikipedia, "The game is inspired by Advance Wars and features turn-based combat between undead samurai." That sounds good enough to me. I'll have to make it a point to check that out soon. Also new this week is a port of the grand-daddy of all arcade beat-em-ups, a triple cross buy Zuma/Luxor clone, and an award-winning prison break simulation. Battle for the afterlife and then jump past the break to see the complete list of new releases.

Steam/Valve Confirms The End Of The World

I hope you’ve packed your survival bag, stocked up on canned food and maintained your nuclear shelter, because the end is nigh. No, I’m not talking about Fallout. A: We already did that. B: It’s just a video game, stupid.
This is real.

Steam announced that they will offer refunds, starting now.

We’ve tried our best, but we couldn’t reach our Twinstiq foreign correspondent who is currently residing in Hell, so my guess is, that Hell is already frozen solid.

Anyway, refunds will be possible “for nearly any purchase on Steam – for any reson”. You just have to go to help.steampowered.com and request one. There is one thing you have to keep in mind though: It will only work within the first 14 days of purchase and only if you’ve played it less than 2 hours. This includes DLC, but beware: make sure to keep a save game from before the purchase, otherwise you might run into the issue, that your save will no longer be compatible once you’ve requested the refund.
In-game purchases are also on the list, but only guaranteed on Valve-developed games within 48 hours of purchase.

There are a couple more rules on this, so go to the Steam help page for more information. Hurry up though! Rumor has it, that there is already blood raining from the sky in Antarctica.

Nintendo Direct Micro Megapost, incl. aprox. 4726544 screenshots

Nintendo listened to me and gave us another Nintendo Direct. I love those. This time, it’s a small one. How small? Micro. AHAHA…
I…I’m sorry, no idea what’s up with me today. Anyway, if you want to watch it, it’s embedded above. Rather want to read about it? Then continue.

First off, we have a new Chibi Robo for the 3DS, release sometime in October.

The game is a 2.5D platformer and the game mechanics revolve around the name giving Zip Lash, which you can use to swing, shoot and grab stuff. This wouldn’t be a Nintendo game however, if there wasn’t some Amiibo functionality shoved in. This time: God Mode. By pairing the Chibi Robo Amiibo (which actually looks pretty cool and will be sold out about 4 seconds after launch), you will be able to run faster, shooter further and unlock some in-game items.

Dr. Mario Miracle Cure for the 3DS, release on June 11th

It’s Dr. Mario (and Luigi). NEEEXT!

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon 3DS, sometime during winter

Only comes with 720 Pokemon out of the box. No word yet on the possibility of a 1080p...okemon patch. You will play as one of 20 different Pokemon, as opposed to a Pokemon trainer. Haven't played a previous one, so no idea how that exactly works.

Mario & Sonic are doing the Olympics again, on both 3DS and WiiU

Since the next stop on the immensely expensive and completely uninteresting Olympic Games is Rio, this game will take place in… yeah, I kinda written myself into a corner there.
WiiU and 3DS will feature some different sports, so you will find for example Rugby exclusively on the WiiU and Golf exclusively on the 3DS.

Splatoon is getting the Zapper

It’s a rapid fire weapon, which isn’t powerful, but offers lots of ink capacity and quickly charges up the echo locator special. Want more? How about a new map! Both are available starting today, 7pm pacific and are free. Ranked battles are also finally available.

Art Academy Home Studio for the WiiU

A new updated version of Art Academy is coming to the eShop on June 25th, featuring new lessons, the ability to upload time lapse videos of your paintings to YouTube, 360° landscapes, and even more new lessons.

Other Stuff

The above trailer for Project Treasure.
There is an LBX 3DS game that looks pretty cool.
Bravely Default sequel Bravely Second is coming to the west.

Puh, that’s it.

LEGO Worlds Now Available On Steam

LEGO Worlds is the next high caliber release on Steam Early Access. Looks like this might become a trend for non indies now. But what exactly is LEGO Worlds?
From the description it sounds a lot like Minecraft. Exploring, building, procedurally created worlds and blocky (or should we say bricky?) graphics. No crafting though from the looks of it.
To get a better overview, you might want to watch Nerd³’s first steps in this strange new world.

New Steam Store Releases: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R

This week saw a ridiculous number of new games hit the Steam Store. The stand-out, in my opinion, is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R (yes, the title is a bit absurd, but the game itself is glorious). If you're a fan of arcade games or fighting games (or arcade fighting games), I would recommend picking it up without hesitation.Accent Core Plus R represents the last of several updates to Guilty Gear XX. As such, it is the last in the Guilty Gear series (probably) to feature hand drawn sprites, as well as the last to be displayed in standard 4:3 aspect ratio (although you can't stretch the image to widescreen, you can disable the sidebar art). Also out this week, a previously PlayStation-only JRPG, a previously PlayStation-only Japanese Beat 'Em Up with a clothes-stripping twist, a previously mobile-only Game-of-the-Year award winner, and many others. Destroy your opponent and then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

  • Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R (Arc System Works, Single & Multi-player, $14.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 (Idea Factory, Single-player, $29.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed (Acquire, Single-player, $29.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Badland (Frogmind, Single-player & Co-op, $9.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Bladestorm: Nightmare (Koei Tecmo, Single-player & Co-op, $59.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Magicka 2 (Paradox Interactive, Single & Multi-player, $14.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • A Bastard's Tale (No Pest Productions, Single-player, $4.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Magnetic: Cage Closed (Guru Games, Single-player, $14.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Audiosurf 2 (Dylan Fitterer, Single-player & Co-op, $14.99) (Controller Support)
  • Catlateral Damage (Chris Chung, Single-player, $9.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Flame Over (Laughing Jackal, Single-player, $11.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • The Next Penelope (Aurelien Regard, Single & Multi-player, $12.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Horizon Shift (Flump Studios, Single-player, $4.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)

New Nintendo eShop Releases: Splatoon, Mega May (Finale)

This week sees the launch of Nintendo's first online multiplayer third-person shooter. And it's kid-friendly, no less! Color me intrigued (pardon the pun). Although, from what I hear, the game isn't compatible with the Pro Controller. Which seems a bit ridiculous, if you ask me. Also this week, Mega May comes to a close with the release of not one, but three Mega Man games! Well, two really, if you count Red Sun and Blue Moon as the same game (which they essentially are). Still, the surprise addition of Mega Man Zero 3 is not a bad way to wrap things up. Now, go fill your Super Soakers with paint and then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

Xbox One Controller May Get 3.5mm Jack

The Xbox One controller may be getting one of my favorite features from any controller ever, a built-in headphone jack. Then again, maybe not. Hit the jump for more information.
Picture

Images are from my tablet and laptop.
Earlier today, this page on Xbox.com's support area showed a 3.5mm headphone jack as part of the Xbox One controller. It may have been a misprint, or perhaps a diagram meant for Microsoft's rumored-to-be-upcoming "hard core controller" for their latest home console.

Either way, the page later updated with this diagram, omitting #16 entirely, but leaving the image the same.Would you like to see this feature included? Are you happy enough using a converter cable or compatible headset?

New PlayStation Store Releases: Ultra Street Fighter IV

This week, Ryu and company are finally entering the Wii U/PS4/Xbox One fray with the release of Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PlayStation Store. So far, it seems that the PS4 will be the only one of the three to feature current or future Street Fighter games. A great success for Sony and a glaring omission for Nintendo and Microsoft. In addition to containing all the DLC for the game up to this point, Ultra IV is reported to run 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution, and also includes support for PS3 fight sticks. Not a bad deal for 25 smackers (though there are reports of one or two issues that may need to be ironed out). Also new this week, a mobile game turned PlayStation triple cross buy, the sequel to a PC-only fantasy action game, and Mega May has apparently spilled over to the PlayStation Store with the release of the PS One classic, Mega Man 8. Pull off your super combo finish and then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.
