Hey guys! I will take a break from doing the hard hitting investigative journalism you know me for. Why? Well, I had an epiphany. The world is a dark place. Video game companies are evil and plotting against humanity.
But there is a group of people who are trying to save us by freeing what they call “Great Old Ones”. I really don’t have time to explain all of this to you now, but if you want to understand, just mark your consoles with goat blood and a messenger will arrive in time, giving you a glimpse in what I understand is the futurepast. Anyway, I’m off to their underwater base. See you soon!
What is everyone playing over the weekend?
- Greywolfe (Twitter, YouTube): leveling in world of warcraft. just did a string of dungeons. ignoring the hearthstone tavern brawl. it's all face is the place-style decks [or meta-heavy control mage, which i kind of like, but feels cheap.] - spore has taken the place of chronology and i'm still stumbling along with gateway. #4if? what's that? [i gave up on plague knight. and that was my gateway to all my other games. so :P]
- Thomas (Twitter): Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah-nagl fhtagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah-nagl fhtagn. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah-nagl fhtagn. - Dante: I finished 4iF, but 2 of those games were not in my original list. I'll probably finish the main story of Disgaea 5 this weekend.
- Scrooloose: Well my #4if is finished J I got lucky with a couple of short titles mixed in there. I started XCom 2, so that'll probably be my life 'til it's finished because it's just as engaging as Enemy Within was. It's got a little higher learning curve and does not joke around. Anyway I'm loving that so far.
- Yoda0VGs (Twitter): I am going to try and crank out 2 of my 4iF this weekend. Then if I have time play some Blood Money for an article Greywolfe suggested about games from your past.
- Andrew (12/12 Games): Still trying to make a dent in my #4iF. (Full disclosure: will undoubtedly spend most of my time blowing off my #4iF for Street Fighter V.)
- Trey (Twitter): Wasteland 2 and Grimrock 2.
This past week has devolved into alternating between Far Cry 4 and Arkham Origins. Far Cry will be completed before the end of the month, but I’m not sure about Batman. With only 10 days left, I’m starting to look at substitutions to complete my Four in February.
With Pneuma Breath of Life done, and Undertale stalled at the final battle, I might have to switch in Her Story and the last two episodes of Life is Strange. Completing those two with Far Cry will technically give me 4, but it’ll be a dishonest victory.
Whether or not I finish #4iF on my own terms or not, I’ve really been enjoying my two larger game choices. I’m just glad I finished Pneuma, and I’m still trying to make my mind up about Undertale.
Update: Both Undertale and Far Cry 4 have been completed this weekend. And according to my save file, I’m 52% through Arkham Origin’s story, so I’m looking good for the end of the month.
The herculean task of recounting the events of the past four nights has finally fallen to my fatigued form. I imagine that form is a more appropriate description of myself than man once was. The horrors the have now brought themselves forward from the darkness of our blissful ignorance. I have survived their advances for the moment and must recall all I now know, whether this will prove me truly beyond all hope or help me recover my now waning sanity is, as of yet, unknown to me. None the less, this paper will be my final message. Should any stumble upon these words take heed, proceed not into the chambers below. You likely seek one of the four, just as I once did. One does rest in this dimly lit cistern but beyond your reach, I beseech you to seek them elsewhere. Do not follow in my footsteps. Forget the chaos emeralds. Their power is too great for our feeble minds and the cost of obtaining them more than I could handle.
I had journeyed into the ruins of Dubai and survived the harsh sands and remnants of war to obtain the first. I stumbled across one in a toy chest in a yarn store filled with adorable dinosaur-like creatures. Half way to the completion of my quest and my ego finally overcame my reason. I was a fool. I succeeded but I am not who I once was. Mere sight of the moon brings painful convulsions and memory loss. I awaken in rooms I fail to recall journeying into. My hands bleed, patches of hair grow where they once did not, and blood clumps beneath my nails. I know what this means and I will not risk this curse upon the outside world. My memory is hazy but I recall flashes of deep blue. If you find me, please end this nightmare.
excellent, bravo! BRAVO!!
