New PlayStation Store Releases: Back to the Future!

So, Back to the Future day is nearly upon us! October 21, 2015, to be precise. If you've seen the movies (hopefully everybody has), you should remember that as the date that Marty and Doc time-travel to when they visit the future in Back to the Future Part II.

Although mankind has seen many cool technological advancements since that 1989 film was released, it's a shame we still don't have hover cars or hoverboards. Or power laces and smart jackets, for that matter. No Jaws 19, either (though that one's probably for the best).

Crazy as it may seem, there is one prediction that might just prove to be true (sort of). In the movie, a hologram billboard congratulates the Chicago Cubs on winning the 2015 World Series by sweeping Miami. Well, it just so happens that the Cubs actually made it to the playoffs this year! Not only did they make it, but they also just won their Division Series, and now advance to the National League Championship for the first time since 2003!

They may not be facing Miami in the World Series (not only because Miami didn't make it to the playoffs, but also because they are both in the same league and couldn't play each other in the World Series anyway), but should the impossible occur, and the Cubs win it all this year, it would be nothing short of legendary. (It is important to note that the Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908.)

Anyway, presumably in honor of the fast-approaching date, (as well as the 30th anniversary of the original movie) Telltale Games has released an updated version of Back to the Future: The Game for the PlayStation 4. The 30th Anniversary Edition now allows you to play the game with the character of Biff Tannen voiced by the actual movie actor, Thomas F Wilson. Play it on October 21st, as you cheer the Cubs on (hopefully, to a decisive victory) in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series.

Also out this week, a hack-and-slash Dragon Quest game, Wasteland 2, and the next entry in the World Rally Championship racing series. "I wish I could go back to the beginning of the season and put some money on the Cubbies." Proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Transformers: Devastation!

I've felt a great disturbance in the PlayStation Store; as if millions of wallets cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. There's a LOT of great stuff to choose from this week! Transformers: Devastation, Disgaea 5, Rock Band 4, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax all look to be must-have titles. If you had to narrow it down to just one, though? Transformers. All the way.

Transformers: Devastation is Transformers done right. Done the way it was always meant to be (and by PlatinumGames, no less). I mean, for God's sake, just look at that image above and tell me you aren't immediately going to drop everything to go get it!

That's what I thought. Autobots...Roll out! (And proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.)

New PlayStation Store Releases: NBA 2K16

Just in time for the start of the NBA preseason, the PlayStation Store now has two new b-ball games on offer, NBA 2K16 and NBA Live 16. In case you're not sure which one you should get, just go with 2K. That series has always been better.

Also out this week, Mega Man Legends, the granddaddy of all one-on-one fighting games, and...holy $#*%! Tony Hawk is back! Draw a foul, take your free throws, then proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

Twisted Metal for PS3 First Impressions.

The PS2 was the home for all kinds of games. I remember walking down the video game aisle and seeing lots of games branded as PS2 Greatest Hits back in that era. There were a lot of games that I hadn't heard of and I wanted to give them a try. I recall that the Twisted Metal Black cover looked like something interesting, but I had never given it a chance. When I did, I found a legendary game.

New PlayStation Store Releases: PES 2016

Once again, I had to take a week off from the New PlayStation Store releases. This time it was due to familial obligations. But that's done now, so let's get back to it.

The big release this week has got to be Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. Word on the street is that the FIFA series may finally have been dethroned with this excellent entry. But I guess we won't know for certain until FIFA 16 releases next week.

Other noteworthy releases from the past 14 days include Tearaway Unfolded, Flame Over, and Leo's Fortune. Win with your eleven, then proceed further to see more new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: MGSV:TPP

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is now available on the PlayStation Store. Ostensibly, the last Metal Gear game by series creator and longtime custodian, Hideo Kojima, The Phantom Pain has already been released to both rave reviews and a fair amount of controversy. Also out this week, the somewhat highly anticipated Mad Max game (especially after how great the new movie was), "STFU!" (that is to say, Super Time Force Ultra), and a digital card and dice fantasy tabletop role-playing strategy board game (as described by Wikipedia). Play Metal Gear Solid again for the last time, then proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Mega Man Legacy Collection

Talk about deja vu! Just like Zombi(U) last week, this week features another instance of something that was previously only to be found on Wii U (in this case a collection of NES Mega Man games) suddenly becoming available for everyone! PlayStation 4 (and Xbox One and PC) owners rejoice! Mega Man Legacy Collection (aka Mega Man's 1-6) is here and ready for your immediate attention. So, stop what you are doing and go download it without delay!

Also out this week, the definitive edition of Dishonored, the obligatory (and hopefully halfway decent) yearly Madden installment, and a surprisingly fresh new survival horror game. Ready... Proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Zombi(Not U)

The non-Wii U version of Zombi(U) has been brought to other systems this week, including the PlayStation 4. Now, gamers that don't own Wii U's will have the opportunity to see what some of the fuss was about (minus the GamePad features, of course). Also out this week, an action-platformer with a pixelated twist, mind-bending indie game, The Bridge (offered as a triple Cross Buy), and Arcade classic, Bomb Jack.

There's no "U" in Zombi (anymore). Proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture

Everybody's gone to the rapture. I guess that's the premise of the new game Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, by British developer The Chinese Room. I don't really know too much about the game, but if it's anything like its spiritual predecessor, Dear Esther, I would probably find it to be minimalistic, yet engaging, emotional, and beautiful. Also out this week, the first Toy Soldiers game to appear on a Sony console, Starbreeze's artistic twin-stick adventure game, and Goat Simulator. Go with everybody to the rapture, then proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.
