Good morning on a lovely spring day where we're hearing thunder and seeing a warm rain come to clear the air and give us that petrichor smell we all enjoy. This wet weather will cancel my work plans for the day, but I'm not terribly upset about that. I could use a legit day off and frankly I want to play games.
I don't have anything really in the way of news, but Diablo 4 is up and running and aside from a few small hiccups it's been a delight. There have been loads of quest lines to follow and the campaign itself is fairly on-linear allowing players to complete acts two and three however they deem fit as both are available at the same time. The world of Sanctuary is a large place. During the betas I was impressed at the size of the Fractured Peaks region only to find Scosglen easily twice the area if not more during release. I just started Kejistan after a little of back and forth between places to finish side quests and find those important altars of Lilith. I still have many left to go back for. I've been enjoying every aspect so far. Though yesterday I was in a dungeon where The Butcher happened to show up and I was handily winning the fight when I was booted to desktop. That was irritating to say the least. But that's the only crash I've experienced in my time playing so far.
If I had to choose a complaint I think so far it's the lack of enemy diversity. Not that there isn't a lot to see yet to come, I may be completely out of line. But so far I'm seeing general "Fallen" demons, skeletons and various beasts and bandits from Fractured Peaks just different colors wherever I go. Scosglen has some extras in the bestiary including some really cool pirate themed stuff around the coastal regions, but it all sort of feels a little samey. Again though, I'm barely into the third area and there's bound to be more.
I haven't been in any PVP yet. I'm not terribly excited for that honestly. There's no balance for it and generally it seems like it's a recipe for frustration. Our own Yoda0vgs has been at it though and collected some 90,000 player ears, the ol' murderous so and so. I guess I'll have to see how it goes when I get there because it's inevitable I think.
For now I'll just enjoy carrying on the so far compelling story line. Lilith is such a wonderfully conniving, evil character. I will say though that in July, Path of Exile 2 is looking to be a legit competitor in the isometric ARPG space. The most recent teaser for the Ngamakanui region has me thinking it could even be, dare I say... better than D4.
What's the dang plan?
AJ: Season: A Letter To the Future and Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider
Scrooloose: Well, Diablo 4 is out and I'm all in so far.
Greywolfe: i'm - what i believe to be - about half way through bug fables. it's kinda neat. you DO need a wiki for some of the side quests though. some of the cooking the game wants you to do is non-intuitive, for example [and some of the items you have to find for the cooking aren't easy to source, either.] - so, about on par for a n64 game, then.
