The WRUP For Red October

So, it seems that the good doctor will be without internet for a few days and, evidently, the honorable task of posting the weekly WRUP has now fallen to me. I shall try not to disappoint.

But what to talk about here? How about the fact that we're into October already? How crazy is that?! I feel like July just ended, but that was two months ago already!

At least I can start counting down to my favorite holiday now. For me, October is a month-long celebration of all things spooky and/or Halloween-related. And I don't just mean costumes, candy, and pumpkins (though those are all certainly helpful).

No, I'm talking about movies, music, video games, breakfast cereals...also this. There's actually a surprising number of ways that one can get into the season, if one is so inclined. But enough talk!

What's everybody playing?

  • Andrew (Twitter): In the spirit of the season (See what I did there?), I will most likely be playing either Costume Quest or Resident Evil HD (maybe both if I find the time).
  • Dante: Hearthstone, One Piece Pirate Warriors and Dragon Crown.
  • Greywolfe (Twitter, YouTube): hearthstone! [grinding for packs :)] - i played - and sorta liked - king's quest 3: redux during the week. rex and inca are on semi-hiatus. i'd like to play them, but i'm still sick and they're not much fun like that. the world of warcraft project continues [but slowly, while i do night elfy things for a mount]. this weekend, i'll play a little bit more of police quest three, where i have to drive up and down a highway and do random, procedural, police quest-y things, like arrest people for drunk driving. "realism" in gaming can be weird :P
  • Thomas (Twitter): Well, my Internet is down, so i guess it's time to finish MGS V. Might also visit Gamescity or do something a bit more creative with my life
  • Yoda0VGs (Twitter): Gonna be sneaking in a few rounds of Dota and rocket league as usual.

Mostly it’s going to be Rocket League for me as per the usual. Also been trying to rebuild a character in Path of Exile but it’s been hard to sit down and put the time in to it.

Thinking about picking up the Witcher 3 content DLC soon, it’s only about ten hours of extras so I’m not sure it’ll be too worth it for me yet. But man I loved playing Witcher 3

I’ve been still addictively playing the side ops on MGSV this past week. I’m not really planning on platinum’ing this, but it’s just a testament to how fun the gameplay can be. Either that or I’m a masochist for repetitive tasks. Replaying some of the other missions on higher difficulty is also a bit of fun as well.

I wasn’t entirely sure what was going on, but the rainbow six siege is apparently still up until midnight monday(?). It’s been fun playing a few rounds of terrorist hunt. The downside of this title might be people ragequitting, especially if you’re the last man alive and still need to kill 10 terrorists. The audience doesn’t necessarily have the patience to watch.

Holy shit…some of the enemies will actually pull suicide bomber action. I couldn’t tell for sure until this 2nd round where it just happened more clearly on the replay cam.

The only Rainbow Six I played was the very first. I sucked at it. But I think it was just the sort of genre shock of going from any fps to a squad based tactical shooter. One of these days I’ll have to see what they’re all about again.

I occupied my weekend with wrapping up the final DLC in Sunset Overdrive. Then I cooked a pretty decent meatloaf and roasted taters, watched some local flooding from my front door, and started Valiant Hearts on the X1.

I do love me some meat loaf. Also I hear Valiant Hearts is quite the tear jerker, Ive yet to pick it up but it’s been on my wishlist for some time now.
