What the fuck is wrong with the video game industry? I can somewhat deal with a packed Christmas release window by spacing things out, but now they start the year in January? Isn’t that against the spirit of 4iF? Yakuza 0 and Nioh are both amazing. Then there is For Honor, Halo Wars 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 7, Sniper Elite 4, NieR and Ghost Recon Wildlands? WHY, WHO, HOW? (Oh, and the new Zelda for people who care about that shit)
I managed to finish Final Fantasy 15 and thought maybe I can wrap up this 4iF with Halo 5, Gears 4 and CoD:IW, but now I am completely in love with Yakuza 0 and Nioh. This is not fair. Stop releasing good games while we still need to deal with our Christmas backlog. Especially if they take ages to complete.
Anyway, what are people playing over the weekend?
Thomas: If I find the time, probably more Yakuza 0. The storytelling in this game is great. Fantastic mix of stupid and serious and the writing is actually quite smart (for video game standards). Plus there is a ton of fun side stuff in it, but no trophy in the world will ever get me to learn actual Mahjong or that stupid Japanese Chess thing.
Scroo: Abzu for Game Club. I've also been enjoying Darkest Dungeon quite a lot and I'm still going in Mankind Divided. I'm hoping to play more Vermintide and Satellite Reign as well.
Andrew: Back to it! Sky Force and Burnout Revenge for 4 In February.
Grey: abzu for game club. done with saint's row 3 for real. more quest for glory 3 where i set up and buy stuff! and more primordia. very close to the end of that game and trying to think about what adventure game to stick in it's place.
Cody: Abzu and Undertale to finish up #4iF
Starting to fear I won’t get #4iF done this year, I still only stand at Oxenfree completed. So I’ll be playing Arkham Knight and RE7 this weekend. And I might start episode 4 of Life is Strange, my final choice for this month.
I’ve been playing a lot of Dark Souls 1 DLC, which has derailed my progress this month. But the Black Dragon Kalameet has kinda got me stalled out there. Fought Manus once and I didn’t do too badly but boss fight after boss fight has dampened my enthusiasm for the moment.
Update: I finished RE7, and it was absolutely nuts at the end. I definitely enjoyed going on that ride.
Awesome. I’ve heard pretty mixed things so far RE7, I’m glad to see it’s actually being enjoyed
