Holy [WRUP] Did You See That?

I'm exhausted. I've been working my ass off clearing brush around my place. This past week I've thinned out some very overgrown forest on my property to be more fire safe and much healthier, not to mention more aesthetic. In a space of about two thousand square feet I cleared out almost two hundred trees and enough dead and fallen brush and limbs to make three burn piles about ten feet in diameter and more than eight feet high. Even after all that I left around thirty threes in place (still overgrown for that size area) and I have quite a bit more to clean out in the surrounding area. It's a project I've been needing to do for years. I also had a long time friend of mine call about a tree falling on her fence to which I was recruited for repairs. Turned out that the tree that fell was also good wood so I ended up bucking it up and splitting it into fire wood and moving that up a hill by wheelbarrow loads. My body feels like it was in a car wreck and that's a little weird because I'm not unaccustomed to hard work. I've done this stuff most of my life. Today will be fairly chill though, thank goodness - an oil change, some painting before new gutters go up and a leaky shower mix valve to be fixed. But enough about me, let's look at what we're here for.

Are you excited about Icarus? I didn't know what it was until this morning. Icarus is a new survival game by the guys that did Day Z. And that's cool I suppose. But if you want to play it you had better be thinking of building a new PC to do it because the specs are ridiculous. For example, minumim requirements want you to have at least 16GB of RAM while recommended spec wants 32GB and that's for 1080p. Here's a link to the whole thing from PC Gamer

Do you like Microsoft Edge browser? Well I hope so because Microsoft is taking steps to make it even more difficult to use anything else as your default as they're calling Firefox's browser workaround and programs like Edgedeflector "improper", and will be patching code to disable their use. Now, I'm not a user of Edge, I do use Firefox and I have no plans to move to Windows 11 where this whole thing is bound to have the most effect, but as I understand it Edge is basically Chrome now so it could be worse I guess. But it's really not cool to wall off your customer base from using whichever browser they may wish. Here's a look from HowToGeek that explains the whole thing more detail

That's it from me today guys, I have to get ready and go to work.

What are we playing?

Greywolfe: well, it's friday. so time for a wrup. i've started in on final fantasy 2 and the pixel remaster is a MUCH better version of the game than it was on the nes. there's still that issue of not /quite/ always knowing what to do or where to go, like with the very early final fantasy games, but it's working out so far. [unless i stray into some place i'm not supposed to go, then the game lays down the law.] - other than that, this weekend, i'm going to peek into the cd rom version of space quest 4 and FINALLY start up the lurking horror. related, i guess, is the fact that i caved and bought a few months of xbox game pass for pc - ostensibly so i can play some of the more fringe games on it [greedfall, spiritfarer, bug fables] but then i discovered that minecraft is there, too. sooooo...i'm doing my first minecraft build, ever, and that's basically sucked away hours where i SHOULD be playing greedfall, et al :P

Yoda: Halo Infinite multiplayer has actually been pretty fun. Might pick up Battlefield though as well to play with friends and crash some helicopters!

Tru: Hey all, well, I'm officially on a week break. It means I can have some gaming time. So here's what I think I may try to tackle:
Alan Wake: Remastered: I'm still working my way through it and trying to collect all I can in one go so my run through on Nightmare mode will be, sure, intense but more about surviving the story.Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: I had fun playing it a few weeks back but put it down to finish Alan Wake, so I may go back to it.Metroid: Dread: Love having Samus back, just haven't had much time to play it.Monster Hunter Rise: I'm an Amiibo guy. Couple weeks ago at Gamestop they had some Monster Hunter amiibos. One was a Ninja Dog and the other a Ninja Cat... So I was like, I should try out Monster Hunter because I've never done so... Well, maybe I should try it this weekend.God Eater 3: Know nothing about the game but my friend randomly bought it for me on Switch, wants me to try it out.Kena Bridge of Spirits: Cool little game from Ember Lab on ps5. Picked it up cheap, brand new. Looks cute so my wife my play it or I will.So all in all, trying to finish Alan Wake up, then move back to other things. Not much different then last time.

Scrooloose: Same old thing for me I'm afraid, more Deep Rock Galactic mostly. Dr S got me a copy of Jalopy for my birthday this month so maybe I'll get into that some. SnowRunner will also be on the list if I feel like it, but I also have work this weekend so it will fall in between those things.
