Post Celebration WRUP

Hey everyone, hopefully you all had a great Thanksgiving without much family conflict. Mine was awesome. Relatively small, we only had about 9 people but it was two days for us all eating turkey, ham, prime rib and the usual sides. Weather was great and I have three fire pits so we set up tables outside and lit those fires to sit by while we ate and drank and had a great time. I cooked and that included desserts of which were the ubiquitous pumpkin pies and a pecan pie but also a rum cake. We played a couple of board games and taught my brother-in-law's nephews to throw knives (this happened before the drinking), drank some great beer and wine and had a great time. In a weird a fun twist my sister and I found out through genealogy that we're technically, though very far back in line, the duke and duchess of a castle in Ireland that is now owned by Bono of U2. What a trip that is. Anyway, let's take a look at the WRUP.

Dark Souls, the first has been given the Golden Joystick award for "best game of all time". I'm not super sure I agree with that. I love Dark Souls but I don't know about it being the best game ever in the history of games. GamesRadar has an opinion about that and here it is

If you like Mass Effect and also streaming TV shows on Amazon then you may be in luck. The deal for a Mass Effect show is in the works and apparently and that could be fun times. Folks are a little torn about whether the show should star commander Sheppard or not. I happen to be on the side of not, because in the game Shepard is you, he or she can be anyone and making Shepard a character in the show would sort of disconnect them from the feeling you got while playing the game. Here's more Eurogamer

And... yep that's it this week because I have to clean up the mess around here and oh boy I sure am looking forward to that.

What are we playing?

Greywolfe: well, i eventually did a dumb in my minecraft build, so i'm working up the stamina to fix that ;) - so this week i AM actually playing greedfall. it's not half bad. it's a VERY european style rpg with bits that don't quite work and so on, but i think the premise is basically interesting. other than that, just magic: arena and some final fantasy 2. the pixel remaster for that has - i think - made it an actually playable game, so that helps.

AJ: Picked up the "Cosmic Deluxe" Edition of the new Guardians of the Galaxy game (and got a fantastic early Black Friday deal on it, to boot), so possibly that. I'll probably check out GOG's sale that they've got going on, as well, and I may also swing by the "local" retro games store again as they have a couple more Saturn games I've had my eye on but honestly I could end up walking out of there with just about anything.

Scrooloose: I'll be playing clean up the mess from turkey day festivities. Probably Deep Rock Galactic otherwise.
