Turns out I’m not allowed to talk about my time with the ...group. Sorry, no more updates.
I heard The Division is out. That’s cool. It’s probably a quite fun 3rd person Destiny. Maybe we have an early impression of it somewhere on the site?
Anyway, what’s everyone playing over the weekend?
- Greywolfe (Twitter, YouTube): space quest 4 is gone! king's quest 6 is here! entering the tribal phase of spore in the near future and also...well...sort of making my way through gateway some more. it's hilariously hit and miss. hearthstone quests and magic: the gathering: online quests aplenty, too. that about sums up my weekend. oh. and leveling the world of warcraft mage, while i'm about it.
- Thomas (Twitter): Silence falls
- Scrooloose: Tomb Raider is done, really enjoyed that one. I hope to see another sequel from Crystal Dynamics in the future. I also played through Layers of Fear in one sitting, man that was a game that didn't let me down for some good scares. My review is up now. I'm not real sure what I'll have on the docket for this weekend. My new CPU came with a game code for the new Hitman game. Not something I'm super excited about to be honest, it's play model is blegh, but I wasn't going to turn down a free title. So I'll likely be checking that out. Perhaps I'll also go back in Tomb Raider and complete some of the challenges.
- Dante: Now that I finished Dust I've fallen into a "what to play next" hole. I've been playing Broforce and it's a lot of fun so I guess I'll keep on playin it this weekend.
- Yoda0VGs (Twitter): Well since SuperHot was the game to grasp nearly all my attention last weekend, I'll be finally looking into Rise of the Tomb Raider around Sunday.
Beat Knack. That’s scary enough.
So far this evening it’s been more Gat Out of Hell. I might 100% that one, it’s the kind of mindless fun I enjoy. I will also be playing more Rise of the Tomb Raider this weekend. I feel like I’m getting close to the end of the story, then it’s off to scour for collectibles. And I’ve not forgotten The Solus Project. It’s got a real sense of mystery to it that has kept me coming back. And having part 2 release before I was even finished with part 1 was a pleasant surprise.

??
Anyhow…
Bloodborne – dlc + chalice dungeons. I decided a few weeks ago I’d do both of these in parallel, mostly bc my character was too weak at the time to run through the dlc. Plus, the chalice stuff is more or less the 2nd half of the game. Kind of.
To me, unless it played as co-op, the dungeons are a boring waste of time. Highly recommend avoiding them unless you absolutely love the game and must have that platinum.
This isn’t just the nature of the dungeons themselves. I’ve already complained plenty of times about the humdrum look and feel of everything.
It’s that the bosses/variants they’ve placed in them towards the lower levels, they’re like all the rejects that didn’t make it into the main game based upon excessive cheapness and camera difficulties. I am no longer having fun; this is work. And yet, here I am, nearing the end of the journey, and so I’m just grinding to finish. Thomas, if you didn’t already hate the game, you’d really hate the game trying to get through this portion.
The dlc fares much better, and more like the main game. It elicits a sense of curiosity and exploration to see what’s out there, which is what is wanted from a Fromsoft game. And the bosses so far have been good (though I kinda cheesed the first boss by hiring on some AI help). I was tired, what can I say?
Speaking of cheese…lead elixir, ftmfw! I never used this stuff until now. It’s a godsend. That better be in Dark Souls 3.
I am so ready for something mindless and relaxing after bloodborne. ^_^ I hope dark souls 3 has better design improvements (say, stuff at the store shouldn’t be extremely expensive so that players are constantly having to grind for souls to replenish said supplies).
