My God, It’s Full of WRUP

Here I sit, another spring WRUP morning with my coffee writing still another weekend commentary. I've had very little time off with work being as busy as it is. Unfortunately that doesn't really mean extra money as I'm more or less spending it as fast it comes in. Hopefully that will stop in about a week's time though and I can start actually making money instead of breaking even. And I'll tell ya what, I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off for myself at least. One day off in two weeks is not enough days off.

Recently we had May the 4th, colloquially known as Star Wars Day and I ran across a little blurb from NPR about a radio show version of Star Wars they did with members of the movie cast in 1981. Turns out George Lucas was into the idea and let NPR have the rights to a three part series for $1.00. Someone else had access to the original John Williams music and the sound effects and they did a ton of old school tape reel editing because it was 1981 so there was no Audacity or Vegas etc to edit on computers with hotkeys and mouse drags. I personally don't think I ever heard this on the radio but the NPR article has a little clip from the series that you can listen to so I have to assume there's still a copy on a shelf somewhere. Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool. Hopefully if you celebrated Star Wars Day it was a good time. I know there were some semi-local storm trooper takeovers and appearances that people got in to.

Speculation abounds for Bethesda and the possibility of some kind of Mandalorian MMO, speaking of Star Wars. I don't know why this would be a thing and not just a reboot of Galaxies but who knows? Maybe it'll be a real thing. The same rumor post mentions a Quake reboot as well, which if it's real and done in a similar vein of Doom then I'm all the way in. As the article from Bounding Into Comics states though, take this info with a grain of salt.

From PC Gamer, New York City is suing Bobby Kotick and making claims that he is unfit to negotiate the sale of Activision Blizzard to Microsoft. The suit also claims that Kotick wants the sale to go through to "escape liability" for recent allegations involving the various abuses in the workplace. I'll just link to the main article here

Okay what are we playing?

Yoda: Well I've been hoping from MMO to MMO for a while now and have been loving the gameplay in Lost Ark. Still one of the best Diablo clones you can play for 5 minutes at a time, or 5 hours at a time. But it's definitely become more of a log in a kill some shit here and there Diablo kind of game for me of late, and have found myself looking at and researching other Mmos while I still have the itch. Came down between FFXIV and WOW, so I started playing Both :joy:Wow is honestly a much better game than I expected. And FFXIV is very rough around the edges with not quite as good combat, but closs. Still waiting for the story of FF to actually grab me, as that's the main draw of the game. So far it's been a slog honestly, but hopefully that changes. I just hate how it forces you to do lame side quests to level so you even have the ability to do story quests. Whereas in wow you can just go anywhere and do any expansion or quest you want out of the nearly 20 years of Content in the game. It's just that the story in wow is.. Yeah... But yeah those are the 3 games I'll be playing this weekend, and probably many weekends to come :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

Greywolfe: winding down chicory. chicory is a MUST PLAY game if you're even remotely an artist [or an artist-adjacent person, or interested in the inner dialogue that artists often have.] - it's heartfelt and kind, but also serious about issues relating to art and artistry.

AJ: Gonna get my Worms on this weekend with three classics that just dropped on GOG: Crazy Golf, Revolution, and Ultimate Mayhem. Let the annelid annihilation commence!

Scroo: Well, I've had one day off in the past two weeks, so if I'm playing anything it'll likely be SnowRunner in Maine. But I did purchase and install Warhammer 40k: Chaosgate Daemon Hunter... Title just rolls off the tongue. I'm looking forward to that.
