WayForward Lifts Veil Off Watch Quest

WayForward have tackled many types of games, from Xtreme Sports to Shantae to Contra 4. Now they've set their sights on the Apple Watch, and aim on bringing an interesting fantasy RPG style game straight to your wrist. Allowing for a casual experience, or something more hands on, Watch Quest allows you to take a more active role in choosing your hero's actions, or more passive play where you check in on your hero as they take on more of the initiative.
A free demo version will be available with one training quest, and the full version includes a full journey that "spans several hours." A full featured component on the parent device will allow you to choose and equip your hero, while the watch component will feature the individual duties your wanderer will partake in, such as puzzles, battles, and treasure hunts.

The PlayStation blog confirms that all current DLC will be bundled and that any input lag that was perceived by PlayStation 3 gamers has been completely eliminated for this release.
Priced at $24.99, it's a very attractive offer to PlayStation 4 owners who can't wait until next year for the release of Street Fighter V.

Phil Harrison Leaves Microsoft

Leaving Sony to serve in the Interactive Entertainment Team at Microsoft, and rising to Vice President of the European branch, Phil Harrison has finally left the house of Xbox after rumors of his departure months ago.
Now an industry vetaran, Harrison gained a foothold a game developer and graphic designer in the 1980s, finding a home at Mindscape International as head of development. Clearly a talented individual, he was able to join Sony and rise to President of Sony Computer Worldwide Studios.

He then worked at Infogrames/Atari, Gaikai, and moved on to his most recent employer Microsoft. It's unknown where he will find a position next, but it's safe to say his passion lies in the games industry. His peers at Microsoft are wishing him the best in his future endeavors after his amicable departure.

Rumour: Mass Effect 4 Details Leaked

The newest leaked details about the much anticipated Mass Effect game have been revealed by Reddit user benjamin_stone. Of course the details are not sourced so taking this information with a grain of salt is highly recommended, but that doesn't mean that his scoop isn't exciting all the same. More after the break!
Our source for this information claims he had taken a survey that questioned his satisfaction on a number of details regarding the overview of Mass Effect 4. There are many more details within the source provided, but here are what we consider to be the most intriguing:

Setting: The Helios Cluster within the Andromeda Galaxy

This isn't the first time we've heard that the new game would take place away from Commander Sheppard's tale, and more fuel is added to that fire with this source. With the game taking place in a different time period and location this could be a great place for newcomers of the series to jump in, without having to put up with the drama surrounding the original trilogy. In addition, you will be playing as a Pathfinder searching for a new home in which the human race may thrive. Within this new corner of space you will discover the remains of a race known as the Remnant, similar to how we discovered Prothean artifacts in the first Mass Effect.

Your Companions: Not Just a Pretty Puppet

Much like previous games, you'll be able to encounter NPCs along the way and build your crew to help you along your path. One example of these crew members listed is Cora, who has a biotic shield bubble that protects you and your crew from incoming fire. You will be able to customize your crew's gear and abilities. Also like previous games, these crew members will have their own personal objectives within your missions, both for their race and for personal gain. You will still be able to explore their back story and do character arc missions for each individual member of your crew.  Don't like what your crew is saying? You will have the ability to interrupt what they are saying from time to time with new dialogue options.

More Decisions: Managing A Mini Galaxy

You will be given the power to send AI teams out to areas of the Helios Cluster to go on "Strike Team Missions" which are the new Horde mode. You can also choose to go on these missions yourself. The goal of these missions is to take over or maintain control over certain areas of the map.

Speaking of a new Horde Mode, you'll be able to play with up to three friends and will take on wave after wave of enemies to fight for control of the galaxy.

Establishing Settlements will be another important aspect of managing this new game's world space. These settlements will provide you with resources that can allow you to: Send recon units into the dark to clear the fog of war from the map, Mining teams to recover more crafting materials, and more.

Seamless Space Travel: From Space to Surface

For the first time in a Mass Effect game, you'll be able to take your new ship, known in our source as Tempest, to hundreds of Planetary Systems . You'll be able to fly Tempest from planet to planet and deploy your Mako ( Hell Yeah!) to explore the planets surface, all without encountering any loading screens.  The source also claims we will be able to customize our Makos this time around!

If this is true we can expect something like the No Man's Sky preview videos, but in the context of a Mass Effect universe.

Seamless Space Travel, the return of my favorite Mass Effect element the Mako, RTS-like decisions to be made about the fate of an entire galaxy, and a whole new Star System to call home. We have been promised such ambition in the past, but can Bioware pull it off this time? What do you guys think of the new information leak? Could any of this hold up to be true? What about these rumors has you most excited? Let us know in the comments below!

Minecraft Server Exploit Released, Patched in 1.8.4

Well, that was fast. If you don't count the two years it took badgering Mojang to get it done. After discovering a vulnerability in Minecraft server software that would crash it on command, Ammar Askar went to notify Mojang, expecting to help them make the product more robust. Developers replied stating they were working on the problem, but eventually nothing came about and further inquiries were ignored. Fed up of waiting for a fix, two days ago the exploit was released into the wild.
"I asked for updates in one month intervals over the course of 3 months and was ignored or given highly unsatisfactory responses. I kept my hopes up that the problem would be patched and checked the source code on new releases whenever I could." writes Askar on his blog. You'd think the Microsoft-owned Mojang would have the resources to deal with a flaw that was handed to them on a silver platter. If stumbled upon by another unscrupulous individual, it would be a prime opportunity to rain on many parades.

After repeated attempts to contact Mojang, and believing nothing was done to implement a fix, the exploit was released on on April 16th with the hope that action to resolve the issue would be provoked. However, Mojang believed they had resolved the issue, but hadn't actually tested their work against the malicious code because it was still possible to use the same trick to crash Minecraft servers.

When the exploit was finally released, Mojang resumed contact with Askar, and quickly released a working fix. The astute vanguard was finally vindicated, and subsequently remarked that "better communication would have easily alleviated this problem."

It's difficult to gauge whether any developer should prioritize their input based on outside comments, especially believing on some level that the issue was resolved. However, due to a dedicated fan, the end product saw a solid improvement that hopefully improves the experience of all Minecraft players.

A Long Time Ago In A WRUP Far, Far Away

Yesterday we’ve seen the Star Wars hype train picking up speed with the release of a new teaser for the movie and a new trailer for the game. I’m not yet sure if I’m willing to get hyped for either, but a new Battlefront could very well win me over. Also it’s time to finally go through the movies with my girlfriend.

What's everyone playing? Any Battlefront 2 people?

  • Greywolfe (@lostwolfe, YouTube): hearthstone blackrock mountain, quest for glory 2 and the dig.  just about to finish off torin's passage.  not sure what to play now :)
  • Andrew J Amideo (@Andoro36): Mortal Kombat X, Hyrule Warriors, and Donkey Kong 64.
  • Cody Hall (@Yoda0VGs): Might Hop into the Elder Scrolls Online. Haven't played it since the second beta weekend and they invited me back to see whats changed. Cant say no to completely free!
  • Trisha Baumgartner (twitch): Playing evolve and also getting realm reborn on ps4 started, I'm gonna get me a chocobo!
  • Jimmy Vegas (@JimmyPhantom17): only a little New Vegas
  • John Rausch (@visitzebes): Sonic Colors (yeah...), Rhythm Heaven Fever, and something top-secret.
  • Billy Colley (@Amuntoth): I'll still be enjoying Pillars of Eternity, but I'll also be playing some more Diablo 3 with the wife.
  • Thomas Ortsik (@Dr_Strangethumb): Xenoblade Chronicles 3D got me infected with the JRPG bug again. Amazing game so far.
  • Jye Cauffle: Bloodborne, I can't stop!
  • Whylekat: Diving into Hell in Helldivers on PS Vita.
  • Mike Suszek (@mikesuszek): Nothing much this weekend sadly. Maybe working on a game project, mostly wedding stuff.
  • Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM): Bloodborne. The original Phantasy Star.
  • Sam Prell (@SamPrell): it's gonna be real hard deciding between Mortal Kombat X and Mewtwo Smash Bros.
  • Susan Arendt (@SusanArendt): Story of Seasons. The honey field shall be mine. OH YES. It shall be mine.

The Twinstiq Game Club

Time for something new and it comes with the timing of a minor scandal during a presidential election.

The team recently decided to start a new feature: The Twinstiq Game Club (and in the spirit of unprofessionalism: name not yet final).  It basically works like a book club, meaning we decide on a game to play through and then have a discussion about it, podcast style. The cool part: You are invited to join!
In anticipation of the newly announced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, our first game will be the original Deus Ex. While it didn’t age that well, especially on the visual and inventory management front, it’s still an outstanding title when it comes to level & mission design, and since Mankind Divided is set shortly before it, this will be a great preparation for its release.

Don’t own Deus Ex yet? Then head over to GOG.com, where they are running a Cyberpunk sale for the next 40hours.
Do you want to take part in our discussion later this month? Have you played Deus Ex previously? Leave us a comment and join the Twinstiq Forum.

Invisible Inc release date and surprise announcement

Invisible Inc, an Early Access game on Steam, has finally gotten a release date. Join us below the break for that date and another announcement from Klei Entertainment.
Invisible Inc will be officially releasing on May 12th, 2015! That's just under one month away and the game is looking great. The game has a Very Positive user review rating on Steam and as a turn based cyber-punk tactical espionage game, it's been on my radar since it's first announcement.
Speaking of announcements Klei Entertainment also mentioned that the game would be coming to PS4 as well as Steam, though they don't have a hard release date for the PS4 version yet.

Excited about Invisible Inc? Played the Early Access version? Tell us in the comments below!

Star Wars Battlefront: New Trailer and Release Date

Mark your Calendars young Padawans, it's coming!

Sulustans with a Jetpack and rocket launchers, a fleet of Y-Wings using their standard Proton Bombs on an AT-AT, sure feels like Battlefront to me!

Releasing November 17th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

If this latest trailer from EA is any indicator, we will be seeing dog fighting, speeder chasing, and probably a lot more.  Hard to tell if anything we've seen in this video is actual gameplay, but even if it's not I have never seen Star Wars look this great in a game.

The Millennium Falcon, doing what we want to see it do. Kick Ass.

Seeing all this brings me back to the great times I had playing Battlefront II on my cruddy laptop, and I can not wait to play through historic battles in a galaxy far far away once again.  Overall it's been a great damn week for Star wars fans, if you haven't seen the new Force Awakens teaser yet, go do it! And with this lovely little look at what will be taking up my time this fall, I must begin my training, for a wise Jedi once said, "Do or do not, there is no try."
