Good morning everyone and here's hoping you're having a good start to the weekend. I pretty much didn't sleep last night so I'm tired AF, but it's a nice morning and I think I'm going to see Eternals today -hopefully that doesn't suck. It should be a nice day for a break though because it's been a busy week. I've been almost exclusively cutting and splitting firewood for the coming cold months. So far I've been lucky with weather being fairly nice so I've gotten a few cords done. I also installed a new fuel pump in my Dad's truck for my folks. Weirdly, that's the second fuel pump they've gone through on that vehicle, but things look good for now with pressure holding around 58 PSI in the rails. The bad pump was only sending around 3 PSI, which would be fine if it was a '53 Ford or something but nope, modern engines run high pressure. In this case from 50 to 60 PSI. I also had to track down a marker light assembly for my Mom's car around the same time because she slightly bumped a deer (it was okay it seemed, if a bit bruised up as per her report) and that broke the housing and amber lens. Pretty crazy how inexpensive that assembly is, but I had a hard time finding one that would ship to CA. Anyway, a few headaches, and backaches later and I got things back in order and I was finally able to play some games.
Anywhooo that's my life for ya. Very exciting. let's look at some WRUP related stuff.
It appears that the Marvel's Avengers game no longer has pay-to-win microtransactions. The move finally comes after the many, many complaints that pay-to-win mechanics can bring about. So if you're one of the tens of players still playing Marvel's Avengers, the Hero's Catalysts and Fragment Extractors are no longer on the store for purchase. They can however still be earned by playing as rewards and of course if you already own any from a store purchase they're still available to use. Here's the full Tweet commenting on the change.
If you're a flight sim person then you may want to check out Turtle Beach's new VeliocityOne Flight controller. It went on sale Wednesday for $379.95 and I'm sure bots scalpers haven't bought them all by now and marked up the price by fifty to a hundred percent or anything. In all seriousness though, this looks like a cool flight yoke. Back in the day when I was into flight sims I may have really looked hard at this myself. Here's a link to Turtle Beach if you want to check it out
Still looking for a current generation GPU? Well, you may want to avoid second hand sales for a little while anyway. It seems a literal truck load of EVGA cards was stolen while in transit from the bay area to So-Cal Just a couple days ago. Great. Just what we need, right? So yep, hold off on second hand EVGA cards specifically because they could be stolen property that you'd have to return sans refund should the investigation pan out and the stolen product be found. Starlink has run into yet more problems in some cases sending preorders back months to years for folks who have decided to slightly change their preferred layout. In the article from The Verge, there claims to be some folks who moved the dish install location just a few feet from the original point and their install dates have been pushed back from 2021 to 2023. Pretty wild. I feel like this just must be some kind of placeholder error or something. Like, once you got your place in line perhaps changing anything set you to the back of the line or something. Starlink is going on around here where I live and so far I've heard good things, actually. But we also have exactly one ISP so having a second option of any kind is kind of refreshing for folks, even if there's a $500 equipment buy-in and line to wait in.
Okay what are we playing this weekend?
AJ: Tecmo Bowl and Viewpoint.
Greywolfe: i got INCREDIBLY sick and spent most of a week sleeping, but i'm back from the dead. :P - before i fell into being sick, i finished off vampyr, which means i'm shaping up to replace that with final fantasy 2 as the next big-ish rpg-like thing i play. inbetween that, i'm playing dark souls 1 a little more [and i finally left the painted world of aramais which was exactly as good for souls as i was hoping it would be.] - the last thing i usually try is some sort of very old, very arcane retro game, but i'm not sure i have the desire to do that this week, so "the lurking horror" is just going to have to wait a week more.
Scrooloose: Deep Rock Galactic has released the Rival Incursion free battle pass DLC WTF ever their calling it, and it's quite fun. So that's what I'll be doing along with working.
