Well, it's the weekend... again. It's almost like there's a calendar determined looping cycle that brings us here once every seven days or so. That's what they want us to think anyway. We know better...
EA is removing Deuvo from Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. Patch 9 brings some bug fixes and frame rate improvements. Here's a link to IGN that gives us the list of fixes. Importantly though, no more Denuvo. Look, we all like anti-cheat stuff and being able to track our acheivments, but there's no reason a single player game like this needs DRM or an online only model. The removal of Denuvo *could* help the game run smoother as well as it's widely believed that it takes a lot system resources and bandwidth to do its job. A rare good one from EA.
Helldivers 2 was recently review bombed again because players were unhappy with the way things were going during updates and balance changes. Particularly changes that once again nerfed the flamethrowers effectiveness. This has been a seemingly constant back and forth between changing flamethrowers from helpful to useless to friendly fire generator and back again. Now Arrowhead is changing things back to helpful again as per a report from The Gamer and in response, Helldivers negative reviews are being reversed.
I really just wish there was some level of testing before making these changes. When I was playing this regularly it got pretty exhausting to get used to a loadout and come in on patch day to that loadout being less effective or even ineffective. Some make an argument for a public test realm and to an extent I think I can get behind that. But on the other hand playing on a PTR is also exhausting. In any case the reversal of flamethrower nerfs is probably a great thing especially since it's such a common weapon found on the ground everywhere you go.
Two million people have joined the imperium of Mankind as the "good guys" in the fight against Termanids and the Thousand Sons chaos forces in Space Marine 2 across available platforms with more than 180,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. Let me tell you that if you're on the fence about playing this, just hop right on off that fence and make you hold your attack button so when you land you do some AOE damage to the swarm or risk being overwhelmed. The sudden success of this title is really great and hopefully that will help things along in terms of expacs and DLC. Focus/Saber are release more content at some point and important stuff like missions, weapons and the like are going to be free with some specific cosmetics behind the season pass. Even with these paid options though there a lot of customization options... look just play this. I can almost guarantee you won't regret it.
That's all from me this time. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
What are we playing?
AJ: Continuing my Analogue kick with the Duo, which I also recently added to my collection. I also picked up Pepper Grinder on the PS5 Store so I'll probably try those out this weekend.
Greywolfe: balatro! and ultima 3. in balatro, i'm just noodling around now that i've unlocked everything. i really like it. it's a well made game and you can tool around with it at your own pace. definitely my game of the year, 2024. in ultima 3, i'm slowly getting to the endgame. got my guys some stats and am working on the last half of that before i start doing the level grind to get to a point where they can tank the end boss. it's always a pretty laid back time and i'm enjoying it again.
Scrooloose: I'll be dive kicking swarms of termanids with my vanguard space marine in Space Marine 2 co-op multiplayer.
