This Week on, WRUP

Hey everyone and Good morning on a fairly pretty Saturday here in CA. Weather is nice and looks to only be reaching the mid 80's today, which is great because once again I have to work. So let's take a look at whatever I have picked for the day here.

Well if you've seen any hardware news you'll have noticed that Intel has caught up in a big way to AMD. With Alder Lake being released and AMD holding back on Zen 4 for a while yet it looks like Intel has the market again. The AMD 7000 chips could be coming around September some time but until then if you're building a brand new top of the line PC you'll probably be looking at Intel for your base. Techradar can tell you more here

Nvidia's new 40xx series GPU's look to be at least capable of hitting the 3GHz mark. This isn't really a huge surprise as even the current gen GPU's can hit some pretty crazy speeds under the right conditions. I would imagine that any of the upcoming 40 series running at 3GHz to almost certainly be liquid cooled offerings however as that frequency is bound to create a ton of heat. Not to mention the stress on the PSU as the power is ramped up to maintain the speeds. If you're chomping at the bit, you're not alone. We'll all just have to wait a little bit longer. Hardware Times has some info for you. If you're curious the power draw problems you might have, GN has a very informative video from their testing labs.

What are we playing this weekend?

AJ: Picked up Capcom Fighting Collection for the Switch so probably a good bit of that along with some Ape Escape on PS4.

Greywolfe: well, i finished off colouring spoons island in chicory and we gave some honeysuckle to hummus [the grieving koala, who always makes me cry when i visit his screen] - so, the next thing we're going to colour is potluck. apart from that, nonsense is happening here, so no "heavy" games. [ie: final fantasy 5/enchanter.] - just silly games like magic: arena :P [which i hate, because there's no single player. :)]

Scrooloose: I've been playing V Rising still. Just PvE and mostly solo lately, in fact. I installed Daemon X Machina as well and it's a strange mix of fun yet astonishingly bad game play and dialogue. I would love to see this fleshed out into an action game with a combat model like that of Metal Gear Rising. There's tons of custom options and the character controller and environments would lend well to that style of game play.
