Welcome to another WRUP everyone and here's hoping your weekend isn't going to be nearly as busy as mine. I have been working more or less non-stop since last weekend and this weekend promises no different through at least part of Sunday. As a result I'm taking Monday off completely and doing as little as possible so I can get some legit recovery time in because my body is very tired from everything I've been doing. I'm not complaining though, it's that time of year and frankly I'm glad to be out doing all this stuff now and not when it's hot and dry. Anyway we're not here to talk about my boring-ass work life. Let's look at some WRUP.
If you're into ray tracing then you probably want to reinstall Cyberpunk 2077 because on April 11th there was a free update adding and RT overdrive mode that makes the entire game ray traced. Not just lighting, but fully ray traced pixels. According to Tom's Hardware this means that the engine now renders 639 ray traced calculations per pixel. That number is compared to the scant 39 calculation per pixel under normal RT. In the same article from Tom's, the report says that even Nvidia's flagship 4090 only reaches about 16 FPS at native 4k. Better numbers can be seen with DLSS 3 and it also seems that RT Overdrive will support lower resolutions and FSR 2.1 so probably you'll be able to see something playable at 1080p and 1440p with lower tier GPU's.
The Iron Mace and Nexon legal issues are still going and that means Dark and Darker is still delisted from Steam for now. Iron Mace, however still has a plan to move forward with play testing while they cross T's and dot I's. You'll want to get on their Discord server and follow the announcements because they're going to Torrent the client. Definitely only take links from the announcements which will actually have to be linked in Twitter because Discord doesn't allow links to Torrents, but this will help keep you safe from bad files that do bad things. It does look pretty fun as a team based hack n slash. I'll wait for release though before I get into Torrents or even Early Access. Much more info here from PC Gamer.
What are we playing?
AJ: I recently picked up physical versions of Octopath Traveler II and GrimGrimoire OnceMore for the Switch, so I will likely be checking both of those out this weekend.
Greywolfe: i'm slowly making my way through ghost of a tale. i love the setting, but i hate the stealth. it is the least fun you can possibly have playing a game. [well, ok, except for when you're just shooting things ad nauseum.]
Scrooloose: Really having a lot of fun in Dredge and Everspace 2. Probably those will be my go-to's this weekend.
