Some WRUP In Your Cup

Welcome everyone, to a new weekend and a lovely spring morning. Yesterday it was 85 degrees and boy is ever too early in the year for that. But don't worry, by Monday here it'll be in the low 40s and rainy -perhaps snowing. I shouldn't complain. By the middle of June I'll be wishing the days were only 85. So I guess I'm just a middle aged dude talking about the weather on the internet while I drink coffee. Let's change that.

Sort of a hold-over from the April Fool's shenanigans earlier this month, some students did some facial reconstruction using anthropological methods and applied it to the Skeletons in Skyrim. The result is actually pretty cool beans. Check it out here at Games Radar.

A couple WRUPS back we mentioned that former Sierra Online devs Roberta and Ken Williams have been working on a big project and a new release for an old text based title that's been converted to a full 3D adventure game. Collossal Cave, looks to be a pretty enormous undertaking that Ken and Roberta have dedicated a lot of time and effort to. The seem pretty devoted to making the best game they can but also feel comfortable with the possibility that it may not do well at all. I have a feeling it'll do fine. The option of playing in VR or not is a big deal and though the screenshots don't make it look like the ultra-realistic, super high detailed graphical blockbusters that come out recently, it certainly looks good. To me it kind of gives some Uru vibes. Take a look at this interview from Ars and aside from that there's an official website as well.

It appears that players in Elden Ring have begun reaching a point of exhaustion. I myself haven't finished my NG+ run, though I will. Work has had me pretty tired at the end of the day and pretty much all I want is to do something mindless and then go to bed. I've taken up some pinball titles actually. But, back to the subject at hand. In multiplayer there have been invasions from a character named Will Smith who run up, slaps the host and then bails. And though the whole infamous slap is a pretty burned out subject now, I find this particular action pretty hysterical. Here's a bit from The Gamer along with a captured video of the event.

What are we playing?

AJ: I picked up some more sealed PS2 games I think I'll be checking out this weekend, such as Ratchet: Deadlocked and Gran Turismo 4. I'm actually much more excited to try the now 17-year-old GT4 than the just recently released Gran Turismo 7, due to the fact that I still can't find a reasonably priced PS5, as well as all the controversy surrounding the supposedly ridiculous grind, micro transactions, and mandatory internet connection in that game. Yeah, that's definitely going to be a hard pass on all that noise.

Greywolfe: it's the weekend! and we play games over the weekend! kind of. i finished off both infernax over the week and also space quest 6. i really should be playing some sort of old game, but i'm going to pass for a while as i play chicory. i hear that's a little sad, so i'm hoping it turns out ok. i'm also about midway through marvel's guardians of the galaxy. it's a pretty terrible shooter, but the banter between the guardians is great :)

Scrooloose: I've been playing some pinball titles lately. Some classic Epic Pinball which is surprisingly not on EPIC Games Store, but is on GOG. And Demon's Tilt, which is really fun but it's only one table. Not much else though, I've been working hard and I do want to get back to Elden Ring but I'm just not feeling like long sessions of dark fantasy exploration after the days I've been having.
