Well, hello there everyone. It's once again time for a WRUP and I'm here to push buttons on my keyboard and mouse. I'm doing it right now. Let's get to it.
Are any of you out there old enough to have played the original Diablo? Some of you must be. When it came out in the before times of 1997 the first iteration of Diablo was a brand new thing for gamers introducing the dungeon crawling hack-n-slash ARPG to the world. It was a hit. I played a LOT of it. It was absolutely lousy with cheaters. So much so that nobody batted an eye if you cheated while playing Diablo. There was the town kill cheat that let you PVP other players in town where no combat was allowed unless it was agreed upon by both parties. But the most popular one was item duplication. In the OG Diablo, when your character died they dropped everything they were wearing piece by piece on the ground. If you couldn't get back to retrieve that stuff, it was deleted when your game closed. So players, including myself, would duplicate their best gear to keep in their inventory, which didn't get dropped upon death. This way if you had to abandon a session at the worst time, or in the case of a game crash, it wasn't as soul crushing to jump back in.
What's my point here? Well it seems that even now in the Diablo 4 days item duplication is still a thing that happens. But now Blizzard is having none of that shit and has disabled all trading until the duplication exploit is tracked down and eliminated. The trading economy (I'm rolling my eyes so hard you can probably feel it) has been flooded with dup'd items and Blizzard has said in a quote to GamesRadar, "We will be disabling trading in Diablo IV while we investigate a possible duplication issue. We apologize for the disruption and will provide updates on when we will have trading available again once we further investigate and identify any issues we need to resolve." In the past when duplicate items were made you could use them until you dropped them on the ground. The server could then see the item was a duplicate and delete the item. This is not likely to be how it's handled here in Diablo 4 but I would caution against purposely using a dup'd item since Blizz is pretty heavy handed with the ban hammer. Anyway, enjoy season 5, I guess.
Borderlands, the movie... Not really sure I need to say how doomed that was from the start so instead I'll just put a link here from GameSpot. Said link shows that the collectible steelbook version of the most recent game to movie adaptation abomination is already discounted on Amazon. So. There you go. Ugh the casting in this movie... The only one that makes any sense to me is Tannis being played by Jaimie Lee Curtis.
As a sort of PSA moment: Next week on the day of August 22nd, the EPIC Games Store will have as one of its free games a very underrated horror title, Callisto Protocol. This is basically if Dead Space was modern and it's pretty good. I played it and I've actually been considering reinstalling it to play again some time soon. If you were a fan of the Dead Space games, at least the first one, I'd recommend checking it out especially for the low, low price of no money. Plus, I don't know man, it's got a good Halloween vibe and that is closer in the year than we all probably thought up to this point.
Okay guys, that's it from me. No real excuse here, I'm just not paying much attention to stuff lately. Please don't sue me, I have nothing.
WTF are we playing?
AJ: I recently picked up a sealed copy of World Series Baseball '95, in addition to a pretty sweet-looking reproduction of the classic shmup MUSHA, both for the Sega Genesis, so I may play those a bit.
Greywolfe: still more balatro. it's a lot of game. [even if the game itself is just poker, but a roguelike.] as a result of it being a roguelike, there's a lot you can unlock and i'm still doing that, 70 hours in. [ie: there's still decks i haven't opened up, yet.] - i'm also trying no man's sky. it's default setting makes the game into a pedantic crybaby where you have to babysit it ALL THE TIME and i hate it. going to try one last time, adjusting the difficulty settings so that it doesn't whine at me for just existing in it's world. if i had to suggest one of these games, i'd ALWAYS suggest balatro. the runs are short, it's a fun roguelike [!] and it has a compelling style. [just turn the music off.] no man's sky hates you and wants you to suffer for playing it with it's default settings. if you HAVE TO play it, make sure to check the difficulty settings first.
Scrooloose: I'm still playing No Man's Sky again. This new update has introduced a lot of changes and new content and I hadn't played since 2018. So I'm into it again.
