Here we are again. Another October, another WRUP. Here's hoping anyone celebrating will have a great Halloween. For now, let's get to a WRUP.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection is having some problems on Steam Deck, but thankfully there's now a fix in the wild. As it turns out there's a .dll file that doesn't get installed on Steam Deck and it's causing crashes during cut scenes in two of the titles. Proton will likely update sooner or later and a fix will be implemented if you're not super comfortable with file structures and command lines, but here's a link from Dexerto that provides full instructions to find and copy the .dll you need to get everything back on track should you want to dig around a little.
Go to GOG if you would like to snag a DRM copy of open world zombie game, Days Gone. Your protagonist is a shady biker named Deacon who finds himself in love and a ton of trouble when the zombie apocalypse goes down. Days Gone has a much better narrative than you'd ever think and really well built open word to explore. My play time to get the whole story done and all the bike upgrades I could handle was around 60 hours and I really enjoyed it. There's a new game plus mode if you're feeling content to do it all again. The PC port is solid and it plays great on mouse and keyboard. Plus there's Zombies and it's Halloween time. Topping that off is the fact that it's currently 67% off and at only $16.49. You can't go wrong. The link provided will get you there, of course you'll need to agree to the content warning to enter.
Well, as usual I've got a boat load of work to do when I'd rather just sit and play games today so I'm off to paint a deck. Happy Halloween weekend, we'll see you in November.
Games will be played
Greywolfe: shovel knight! i picked it up again this week. was going to play hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, but it's an infocom game with a notoriously dumb puzzle that starts the game off [and then it gets sillier after that] and i just wasn't feeling it. but maybe i'll try it next week. not sure what i'm going to want to do after shovel knight.
AJ: Well it's nearly Halloween and I've just acquired a very well made, custom physical release of the Special Edition update to the Sega Genesis Ghostbusters game, so I'm pretty sure I'll be playing that a bit, along with the Castlevania update to Dead Cells.
Scroo: I'm hoping to actually get some time in Lords of the Fallen as I've been so busy I've barely had time to get past the first boss. Otherwise I'll be working.
