Hey everyone and welcome to a gloomy Saturday. I hope you've all had a good week in this continuing first month of 2022. Let's go right to the WRUP.
God of War, the rather amazing hit on console has come to PC and it seems like the port was more or less flawless. PC Gamer even says they were able to run it on an integrated graphics CPU. I'm very happy to see that the optimization from console translated so well to the PC port. I have yet to pick it up myself but I do plan on doing so because I want to support more of this porting major PlayStation titles to PC and of course because GOW is a really great title. It was in fact the last game I played on PS4 but I sadly never quite finished it. I decided to jump into the challenge mode to upgrade Kratos and Boy as far as they could go but I got sick of the silly --fight 20 enemies at once and don't take any damage or you fail-- nonsense. I always meant to pick it back up but I never did. Now's my chance to do it again on PC and I'm excited to since I had very similar experience with Horizon Zero Dawn. Recommended specs for GOW are chill and that's great news because we all know about this horrible tech economy right now, but if you've got at least 8GB of RAM and a 1060 or RX570 you'll be good to go. Those are of course rated for 1080p 30FPS so I can imagine you'd want a bit more for 1440p and up and higher frame rates but it seems as though this is a very accessible port. $49.99 from Steam and EPIC right now.
Interested in a Steam Deck? Well if the info is to be believed then next month will be your chance to nab one for yourself. Not a lot of information is given and I'll link the article here from TechPowerUp, but if things in the world don't get worse it's looking good for hand-helds in February.
On a more serious note, Microsoft is making it known that the latest January update has a whole bunch of vulnerabilities in it that are problematic to security. This seems more relegated to Windows Server and virtual machine users, but it's probably a good idea to make sure you hit the ol' "check for updates" button here again soon to make sure those holes are filled. There's a lot to disseminate so I'll toss the link from Forbes here.
Okay guys, what are we playing?
Greywolfe: just final fantasy 3, all the time. i'm trying to clear it away [and not pick up anything else, really, unless it's small and i can finish it up] so that i can do four in february with a clean slate.
AJ: Trying to catch up on the some of the best 2021 had to offer. So, I'll probably be playing some Resident Evil VIII and Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Scroo: Back For Blood seems to have been somewhat rebalanced so I'm back in that with friends. Also playing For The King with friends which is a super fun multiplayer rogue like JRPG. And by myself, I'm ass deep in Disco Elysium.
