Get Yer WRUP Here

Good day to you, I hope this WRUP finds you well. It's the weekend and though the storms have passed there is much water, ice and snow left their wake. However the sun is warm for such a winters day and this may mean the snow will be melted in time for the Superbowl party to be held here tomorrow. Diets will be set aside as there will be many chili boats to be had. Beer will flow cold and the pizzas will be hot. Those who join us should plan on heavily filled bellies and antacids to relieve the inevitable reflux to follow. Here, below are more WRUP related issues.

Is Microsoft going non exclusive with Xbox? It's all speculation right now, but there's talk of Xbox titles being ported to PS5 including the yet to be released Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. Arstechnica says it could feel like a bait and switch for Xbox users. Maybe that's true but ultimately brand exclusives hurt everyone. More availability on more platforms is only a good thing for console users. I do understand the decision as it stands now, if true, would be pretty one sided since Sony doesn't appear to have the same rumors of non exclusivity. But this could also mean more third party titles for Xbox and by proxy, PC. PS5 owners could have a lot more games to play at release, and since PlayStation titles are seeming to make their way to PC more and more lately that could also transition to Xbox via Microsoft's store. It's more complicated than it ever needs to be, but yeah I wouldn't blame Xbox users for feeling a little slighted, especially if they chose to put off a PS5 purchase in lieu of said Xbox. Still, it's only rumored so far.

Seven years is enough for Motion Twin and Evil Empire as they will no longer be updating the extremely popular side-scroller, Dead Cells. Evil Empire itself has put in five years of updates and have decided to move on and leave on a high note. Original devs, Motion Twin will regain full control but have stated they'll be leaving Dead Cells alone after update 35 is released. Personally, I think this is a smart move as the point is made that there's a ton of content for Dead Cells as it is and just adding more and more of the same could basically lead to fatigue. Both devs will move on to other things and we can hope they'll be awesome as well. More from PC Gamer

Helldivers 2 has been experiencing some highs and lows since launch. It's a huge release on Steam and it's concurrent players are legion, but the reports of crashing and bugs have kept me from picking it up yet. Reports are that it's super fun but match making doesn't work yet and crashes seem pretty random and annoying. I played the the original Helldivers quite a bit and it was a ton of fun, sort of a mix of Warhammer 40k and Starship Troopers on an isometric map that encouraged team play quite heavily. The sequel interests me a whole lot but I think I'll wait for patches before I jump in. PC Gamer has some information about some issues.

That is all this time. When next we talk there will be a new sports ball champion and the battle field of Las Vegas, NV will run red with team colors from Kansas City and San Fransisco. May your parties jam hard and your restrooms be freshly stocked with air fresheners and TP.

What are we playing?

AJ: I just picked up a couple more Toaplan arcade classics on GOG, specifically Fire Shark and Batsugun, so I will definitely be playing those a bit. Also, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

Grewywolfe: probably: be sociable while the people who are here keep me from playing video games. but if not, then maybe lake. also the dlc for behind the frame. maybe something else. my four in february is almost done.

Scrooloose: I'll be trucking along on SnowRunner for now. Prince of Persia also has my interest and I recently installed Ghostwire Tokyo, so I may give it a shot.
