Everybody WRUP Tonight

Good morning out there internet and game land. I'm still feeling about half asleep. It's been a long week and today is going to be busy. So let's get right to it.

If you're a middle aged gamer like myself and a couple others here at Twinstiq, you may be interested to know about 8bitDo's new custom mechanical keyboard for your PC. The theme is classic NES / Famicom with the "N" edition showing the NES grey, white and red color scheme and "fami" shows the old maroon and white colors. Both are priced at $100 and ship on August 10th. Here's a bit more from Gamespot

An intriguing preview for a hybrid base-building team defense shooter called Outpost: Infinity Siege has dropped on the YouTubes. The plot seems to play on a doomsday scenario harkening to the Terminator, with AI attacking humanity. Game play is combination of FPS and base-building and upgrading while allowing players to take control of turrets and machines to hold back the tide of robots sort of Matrix style. It looks pretty cool if slightly generic. Kind of along the same lines as the recent Starship Troopers game. I'll have to keep my eyes on this one.

Baldur's Gate 3 is getting a ton of attention out there. As it should, it does look like a great RPG. I'm not yet playing because I'm saving myself for Armored Core 6 and frankly I'm expecting play time for BG3 to last well beyond the AC6 release date. Not to mention I'm playing the free content in Diablo 4 season one. Eventually I'm sure BG3 will make it into my game library, but until then I'll just keep reading about its systems and mechanics and scratch my chin while I decide on what to do. August 4th provided BG3 players with a patch that fixed some stability issues and much more. Here's a list of the notes from Steam. Some of the fixes listed in the cinematics section are blacked out because they contain possibly spoilers so roll over at your own risk.

That's it for me. I have a lot of work to this weekend, unfortunately so I better get to it. Happy gaming everyone.

Game plans?

Yoda: Well since Blizz keeps making everything IN Diablo 4 worse and worse with every patch, I'm off to BG3!

AJ: I recently acquired a pretty decent looking complete boxed copy of Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for the Sega Genesis, as well as a brand new physical copy of Dredge for the Nintendo Switch, so I will likely be playing both of those this weekend.

Greywolfe: winding down stories. winding up culdcept. i've - again - finished off almost all the stories that you could naturally find in stories: the path of destinies, so i just have to do the main branch that finishes off the actual game and then i'm done with it. i liked revisiting it. the critics are basically right about the combat, it's "mash x to win," but there's a little bit under the hood there that's also kinda fun. not sure what i'm going to pick up in it's stead. culdcept is GREAT when the game doesn't cheat. it's a surprisingly dense monopoly/magic mashup that i think might be one of my "finds of 2023." lots of fun

Scrooloose: Diablo 4 for me still. I also started playing Deadlink, a really fast paced rogue-like shooter with a pretty excellent character controller. It's like if the modern Doom was a Cyberpunk setting.
