Even A Broken WRUP Is Right Twice A Day

Well hello and good morning. It's WRUP time and I'm groggy from just waking up. So let's do this.

First up - There's been a completely shocking development in the, uh, development of the NFT MineCraft game, Blockverse. Creators wanted to make yet another totally real and not shady at all NFT game based on another game because that works every time and everyone is always happy. But then they didn't. Instead, more than a million dollars in fake monies was spent on making this dream a reality and the folks behind it just took the virtual coin and actually laughed while leaving the room. After a few days someone from the creation "team" showed up on Twitter to definitely actually apologize and make sure the folks who were, (I don't know if 'ripped off' is the right term here since none of this "currency" is real unless it's laundered and valued for actual money, like from a bank. You get the irony here.), definitely not ripped off knew they weren't ripped off and that virtual van full of their virtual bullshit money is there just because they need a secure place to store it while they absolutely continue working on Blockverse. Don't worry everyone, they'll be back. Just you wait. They'll show you. PC Gamer with more.

Staying with the theme here, Nvidia's mining limiters still don't work. I'm just going to link here to Techlinked so you can watch the video.

Elden Ring will be here before we know it and I'm sure I'll eat these words when I buy it and play, but I'm not so sure I'm really feeling the dark fantasy vibe now. I do love the Souls games, as you may know from my past writings of it, but I don't know, maybe it's just my mood changing, maybe I'm just avoiding the hype train... hard to say. In any case Elden Ring is bringing back "tail cutting" during boss fights. If you'll remember, this was something players could do to gain special weapons during play-throughs if they were feeling skillful enough. Some people would argue that it was a strategy for making things easier during a fight as well, but I always found it to be, pun intended, a pain in the ass. It was always about positioning and avoiding damaging the boss directly lest you finish the fight too early and lose your chance at the special item until your next play-through. In any case I guess we'll find out soon.

I guess that's about it from me this morning. I didn't pay very close attention to what's what this week. Have a good one everybody. Four in February is coming right up, so hang with us and you might see some actual content.

What are you wild and crazy guys playing?

Scrooloose: Well I've all but given up on trying to like Dishonored 2. Maybe I'm just not feeling the stealth genre right now. Still having a fun time in For The King with friends, we even had our first campaign win. I've jumped back in to SnowRunner even though I'm now two full seasons behind. I finally unlocked the Zikz 605R, a heavy eight wheel drive tractor/truck with a ton of versatility, which has helped a ton in terms of progression and it's making Amur feel less clunky.

AJ: I hit up that retro video games store once again and scored a copy of Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves for the Dreamcast and Super Mario RPG for the SNES. So those will likely account for a decent portion of my weekend.

Greywolfe: i'm mopping up the remains of cat quest ii which i started on a whim earlier last week. it's pretty fun, but it's not /quite/ as open as the first game, in which you could basically just do side missions and you'd still be level appropriate for the main quest. here it's the other way around. side quests are a little stingy, so you HAVE TO stay on the main quest to get decent xp and money. but i think the writing has jumped up a little notch and the story for the main quest is a little more than just "beat the dragons, get a little bit of extra story, win." so that's good. it does - well - what a sequel is meant to do.
