A Nice Cup of [WRUP]

Saturday is upon us. All upon us. This morning is frustrating for me. I awoke several times during the night with the dog whining and pacing around. I more or less figured there were raccoons out or something but when I got up this morning I soon understood what was up. Someone around here has a big black lab mix and he comes around and plays with my dog from time to time. Unfortunately I've also caught him stealing the cushions from the deck furniture in the past. So what it looks like is that he paid us a visit last night and not only stole the last cushion from a deck chair but also took laundry off the line and chewed it up and destroyed a rolling chair that sits on the deck. I walked down my mountain bike trail and found a towel or two, a bed sheet and the seat cushion from the deck chair torn to shreds. I would even suspect a bear or something if it wasn't for the cushion. This same dog has, in the past, stolen outdoor dog beds and chewed them up in my driveway. I've caught him doing it. I'm sure of my suspect. The problem aside from the property destruction is that he won't come near me when I do catch him in the act so that I can check his collar for a phone number to call. Calling animal control is also more or less pointless unless I manage to catch and hold him. But I also don't want him to go to doggy jail for being a dog. Then again I don't want him hit by a car either. He usually comes from the road suggesting his home some distance away and not a neighbor just a few acres from us. Conundrums eh?

Okay actual WRUP time.

On Monday CDPRED teased an image saying "A new saga begins", showing what appears to me to be a school of the cat witcher medallion. Que the speculation. Who's our protagonist? Will this take place before or after the current series? At the same time? In any case this is probably not something we're going to see for quite some time if Cyberpunk 2077 is any indication. Here's a bit more from Game Rant

Does the name Sierra Online ring any bells? They made tons of adventure games back in the '80s and even published an expansion for the original Diablo. I happen to live about 20 miles from the old Oakhurst office and one of my friend's dad used to do all their cover art. I even tried to work there as a game tester back in the mid '90s, but weirdly it never panned out. Anyway, get ready for a new title from Sierra. Well, not exactly new, but a complete remake of an old game called Colossal Cave, a purely text driven adventure released in 1976. This is actually before Sierra's founding in '79. PC Gamer with more.

Unrelated to games but quite fascinating none the less, someone has translated a spider web into music and it's pretty awesome. I'll just toss the link here from Science Alert and let you see for yourself.

We're playing games, I'm sure of it

AJ: Last week I once again resumed my recent retro console purchasing craze by picking up a pretty pristine PlayStation 1. Now I can finally proclaim that I am the perfectly proud owner of all previous PlayStation consoles (but sadly, still not the practically-impossible-to-find next/current/5th generation model). At any rate, this weekend I will probably be putting my new (old) PS1 through its paces with some Arcade Party Pak and possibly also a little Pocket Fighter.

Scrooloose: I've started New Game Plus in Elden Ring and progressed all the way to Altus Plateau before experiencing my first combat death following Yura's quest line. A silly mistake actually, but it counts just the same. I'll be hitting more of that up on the way to Volcano Manor.

Greywolfe: ff4 went from a "final fantasy holiday" [laid back and easygoing and just a linear experience] to hell on earth in very short order: there's guys in a cave that - in the first turn, mind - before you can do anything - spit a WHOLE whack of statuses on your characters, some of which brick those characters completely so that they cannot do anything. it is the least fun thing. i dunno if the latter half of the game is going to be much fun as a result, but we'll see. as for infernax, i'm past the midway point. i'm running out of side quests and i have two more big dungeons to clear before the finale. [i believe] so that's winding down. going to have to find something to replace it with, soon. in space quest 6, i finally hit that same wall that made me put the game down in the first place: there's a spot where you have to cheat at an in-game minigame and it's the least fun. going to mess with that this weekend, but i don't have very high hopes for this one.

Tru: Hey All, long time no talk. What have I been playing? Well... Horizon: Forbidden West mostly. I'm near the end I think, after that I picked up the new Kirby game so I'll be checking that out or go back to my Series X for some Halo goodness.
