Weekly Webcomic Wrapup goes free 2 read

Picture

When I was looking for a new batch of Comics for today’s Wrapup, I found out that people seem to be really confused about the whole Nintendo going mobile thing.
The big N said that they won’t port old games, but does that mean that their IPs are still available?
With DeNA’s reputation, could this lead to a microtransaction filled “Super Mario World Ultra: Super Free Edition”?

Then again, we already have Pokemon Shuffle and Darumeshi Sports Shop/Rusty’s Real Deal Baseball on the 3DS, so… what’s your opinion on these webcomics?

Penny Arcade (Finality)
Awkward Zombie (Bicycle of Life)
ActionTrip (After Kojima, MGS Goes To)
Ctrl+Alt+Del (Pay to win)
Double XP (The Ultimate Crossover)
Boss Nostalgic 64 (Trial and Error Required)

Rainbow Six Siege Footage and Screenshots (UPDATE: New Video Source)

Picture

After a hiatus, the Tom Clancy branded series is set to make a comeback with Rainbow Six: Siege.  Footage and screenshots from an alpha have leaked, giving us an early glimpse at an alpha version.

A Dailymotion video shows over 11 minutes of a new map, and some screenshots are available (for now).  Ubisoft has already taken down videos and screenshots on various sites, as this is from a closed alpha not intended for public viewing.

The Predator Stalking Its Way To Mortal Kombat X

It seems that sci-fi Alien hunter Predator will be joining horror icon Jason Voorhees in the new Mortal Kombat game. The news was first leaked via the Xbox Games Store, and then confirmed by fighting game news site EventHubs. Both the Predator, and Jason will be joining returning Mortal Kombat characters, Tanya and Tremor as downloadable content. All four characters will be available for purchase separately, some time after the game is released. Alternatively, they can be accessed sooner by purchasing them together as part of the Kombat Pack.
So as to keep the Predator from feeling too lonely, there will be three movie-themed alternate character skins released alongside him. These will consist of "Commando Johnny Cage", "Infrared Scorpion", and "Carl Weathers as Jax". (I'm assuming "Carl Weathers" means his character Dillon from the movie Predator, as opposed to Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies. Though honestly, I'd be happy either way.) You can enjoy all the movie/gaming mashup madness after Mortal Kombat X launches on April 14th.

Digital Foundry Analyzes Episode Duscae Performance

The new Final Fantasy XV shows off Square Enix's use of their custom Luminous Studio engine, and Digital Foundry breaks down the performance of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One demo for us.
Both versions run at sub-1080p resolutions, with PS4 at ~1600x900 and Xbox One at ~1408x792, and both platforms show aliasing artefacts and dip below 30 frames-per-second, with the Xbox One rarely hitting the targeted rate and showing screen tearing.  This is of course not representative of the final product, and hopefully Square Enix will be able to iron out issues on both platforms.

Ubisoft’s New Driver Game Splashes Down This April on Mobile

Picture

John Tanner's tasked with taking down the mafia in the new mobile outing set to release April 2015.  Ditching the traditional gameplay of previous entries, you'll be racing in his upgradeable boat, performing stunts, jumping off ramps, and drifting through turns.

Ubisoft emphasizes realistic physics and dynamic waves in the new free-to-play game.  Perhaps Ubisoft is testing the waters for a new traditional entry, or simply wanted to lend the brand to an interesting game, and perhaps revitalize it at the same time.  How do you feel about the new turn this series has taken?

Halo 5 Reveal on Sunday

343 Industries' Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor has tweeted the address to a Tumblr page with a Halo 5-labeled countdown, set to presumably reveal new information on the game this Sunday.
Launching this fall, Halo 5's campaign focuses on Spartan Locke, a new central character whose mission is to hunt down Master Chief.  This isn't the first time that a Halo game has put the beloved Master Chief out of our control, and it will be interesting to see the character from a new perspective.

What are you hoping to hear about when the counter reaches zero?
