Rise of the Tomb Raider won’t be so exclusive in 2016

Highly controversial XBOX exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider won't be exclusive for too long. Square Enix has revealed in a press release that the game will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016. For PS4 owners the wait will be a bit longer since it will remain console exclusive for a year.
"REDWOOD CITY, CA (JULY 23, 2015) – Square Enix today announced its latest title in the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tomb Raider® series, Rise of the Tomb Raider ®, will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016. The game will be a console exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for one year after its initial launch, coming to PlayStation® 4 (PS4) in Holiday 2016. Renowned developer Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio, is leading development in the latest entry in the iconic series for additional platforms."
Last year the announcement of this exclusive title was Microsoft's ace under the sleeve fueling the flames in the console war. It looks like the PS4 won't be having an exclusive of the caliber of Tomb Raider to compete against Microsoft this holiday season. If you're a PS4 owner, what games are you looking forward for the rest of this year?

Is there even anything worth looking forward to this year on PS4? I burned through Bloodborne in about 3 weeks and shut the system down until Ethan Carter and The Fall dropped (didn’t even realize that a cat had unplugged it at some point in those months.) Played through those two games in a weekend and now what? Sadly, I think Rocket League is going to join Mortal Kombat in the 2015 pantheon of games I’m not going to commit to long enough to not get crushed every time I try and go online, so nope.
I guess I’ll finish Never Alone. It’s not blowing my mind but at least it was free.

they have that horror game that looks really cheesy in my opinion, the PS4 tearaway (was great on the Vita), Tomorrow Children looks like it could be fun, and isn’t no mans sky supposed to come out this year?
But yes, MS is kicking their butts this year when it comes to exclusives

Oh, that’s right Until Dawn. Yeah, that’s been through enough iterations (it was originally supposed to be a PS3 Move game, right?) that it’s probably going to turn out to be a shitshow. Unfortunate, since I like horror/thriller/mystery games (was not impressed by Ethan Carter tho, sadface). I might try Tearaway since I never got around to it on Vita. It looked great but I never liked LBP so I didn’t bother checking it out.

I mean, none of this is a big deal since I’ve pretty much got the rest of the year mapped out (Dying Light, Far Cry 4, Witcher, MGS, Fallout, Halo, Tomb Raider, Just Cause) but it’s always nice to be able to justify a console purchase on a regular basis.

It looks like a horror b-movie version of a David Cage game (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls), which in theory sounds awesome (if you like cheesy horror), but yeah, it’s already been canceled once, and none that i’ve seen of it so far makes me want to play it. They’ll probably have it at gamescom, so i’ll give it a shot and tell you guys about it afterwards.
Tearaway (Vita) is great, even if you don’t like LBP. It was more about connecting with your device and the world inside of it, than creating your own one. Don’t know if the PS4 version can achieve the same thing, but i’m willing to give it a shot.
The biggest PS4 justification for me is still indies (especially the PS+ ones) and the performance advantage over the XBO. I love me some extra pixels or fps when i play on a console.

My backlog for the PS4 has now grown quite a bit (thanks Witcher 3) and I suspect that by the time I get around to looking at this game, it will be heavily discounted. I liked where they went with the last one as it felt a lot more like uncharted but I think they really need to work on the character development because Lara is extremely boring as a character.

They literally could substitute anyone else in there and I really wouldn’t care. I guess I’m used to Nathan Drake the rapport he has with Sully and the other characters so I’ve come to expect that level of character development in an adventure game like this. Hoping they step it up as the game mechanics are in place and Lara can only lean on her reputation as being the ‘sexy heroine’ from the 90s for so long,, ahhh memories….
