Now Is a Great Time to Get Into Doom 2016

So once again Steam has put a nice free weekend deal on table to drool over like a large holiday meal. This time it's Doom 2016 and I'll say right off the bat that it's worth gabbing up.

Here's why:

  1. It's free until Sunday the 23rd of July.
  2. If you decide you do like it and wish to purchase permanently as you should, Bethesda has lowered the price to a mere $15.
  3. It's effing great and you should buy it and play.
  4. Once your purchase is made your game progress will of course carry over to your full play through.

Here's what you'll get with your free weekend:

  • The first two levels of the Single Player Campaign
  • Full access to Multiplayer
  • Access to to the Snap Map Level Editor
  • Access to Arcade Mode

Now keep in mind that Doom is enormous at nearly 80 gigabytes and is currently running a nearly 35 gig patch (Patch 6.66), so it's a hefty download. The patch looks to be fixing Multiplayer issues and some problems people were seeing in the Snap Map level editor.

I can say from personal experience that the game is spectacular and extremely well optimized. In my opinion the Multiplayer is still pretty blegh but the Single Player Campaign is very, very good. I feel that Doom is worth the full price and $14.99 is a steal.
