Hyrule Warriors 3DS has a trailer

A trailer for Hyrule Warriors on 3DS leaked, so let’s take a look at it:
You didn’t know that this was even a thing? Don’t worry, that’s because it wasn’t yet announced. The video itself was supposedly unlisted on the official KoeiTecmo YouTube channel in preparation of an E3 reveal.

Thanks to Laura Kate Dale for providing a mirror of the trailer.

Twin Peeks Episode 4: Cannon Fodder

Episode 4 of Twin Peeks is out, and this time we're taking a look at Cannon Fodder. Developed by Sensible Software, one of the most beloved Amiga developers of the 90's, Cannon Fodder is an action strategy hybrid that has more emotional depth than it's shallow gameplay might suggest. Join us after the cut for more, or just watch the above video.
I had a lot of fun with Cannon Fodder, but as I mentioned the gameplay depth is lacking. Still, as an almost arcade style game it's fun for a while and many people remember it extremely fondly. Sadly this is the DOS version from Gog.com, which I hear has much worse audio than the Amiga version. If anyone has any thoughts on the game, leave them in the comments below. Make sure to like and subscribe on the video as well, since that helps us bring you more content.

In case you haven’t subscribed yet to our YouTube channels, have a quick update on what has been happening over there.
First off, Billy C is running his Wrestling Game retrospective on our Let’s Play channel. Definitively worth a watch if you are into wrestling or fighting games in general.
Billy also played some Flame Out and had a blast. Check it out. Looks like a pretty cool game.

Cody has some Witcher 3 gameplay on offer. No commentary, just beauty.

And I, Dr. S, did some FIFA 15 today, in celebration of the Champions League Finals. Turned out to be an amazing match!

Rally Round…For Some Death!

If you aren't familiar with Twin Peeks, it's one of our fantastic and amazing YouTube series where we take a quick look at games and tell you what we think while we play them! Doesn't that sound like a treat? You're dang right it does, so hit play above and see what I think of Death Rally. Spoiler Alert, it's the old version not the new iOS remake thing I haven't tried.

Winter is coming, and with it Battleborn

There's a new trailer for Battleborn and it looks particularly traileriffic. Battleborn is an online shooter from the creators of Borderlands, but that doesn't impress me as much as it probably does others. The reason? Borderlands never really grabbed me, even though I loved the setting and the story, it just always felt like a very shallow and repetitive shooter.  Still, it's not all doom and gloom, continue past the break to get my thoughts on the trailer and what we know of the game so far.
Just watching the trailer got me pretty interested, and if Smite is any indication then a third person shooter MOBA has the potential to be very enjoyable. The graphics are stylized and very Dota-Like with the aesthetics, though of course the models and detail are turned up to 100.  The characters look more interesting than a lot of other MOBA games on the market but it remains to be seen how good or bad the controls will feel. Still, I really want to play the hawk man with a rocket launcher. Plus, if I don't like the PVP I might still enjoy playing the coop story with my wife and some friends.Apparently they plan to release in the winter on PC, PS4, and XBox One but there's no firm date as of yet. With the announcement of the impending death of Infinite Crisis it'll be interesting to see how Battleborn does in the slightly crowded MOBA market.

Flame Over man! Flame Over!

Hello you beautiful people (and highly sentient animals)! Lately I've been playing and streaming some Flame Over, a new roguelike from Laughing Jackal.  Join me after the jump won't you?
So it's far too early to give you my thoughts on the game as a whole, though that is coming. I have spent a bit of time playing and streaming it, and burning to death constantly! The game is an odd roguelike in that it's not about killing enemies to get as far as you can, instead it's about putting out fires and saving people and pets. You have to utilize many different gadgets, from fire hoses to defibrillators, in order to make it as far as you can, and you'll want to save the civilians because each saved human adds a minute onto your time limit. What happens when time runs out? Stay tuned for episode 2 to find out!Don't like watching me play the game, or does the sound of my voice make your eyes spurt blood? Then check out the official developer Let's Play of the game to get an idea of what the game's all about.

Thinking about picking up the game? Already picked it up? Let me know in the comments below.

Twin Peeks : Monuments of Mars

Twin Peeks is our new series where we take a quick look at a video game, either old or new, and we let you know what we think in a very loose, very off the cuff format. Today we're looking at one of the games in the 3D Realms Anthology Pack: Monuments of Mars. There's no transcript for this one so I'll just be posting the video after the break, but if you'd like us to include a written breakdown of what we think (no script with these after all), then we can look into that for future videos.

Quick version: It's an old school puzzle platformer where you control an infinite supply of astronauts. Your goal is to save the astronauts that have gone missing on Mars, and to do that you'll need to beat 4 chapters, each with 20 levels. It's a fun  enough game, but it's not something I'll be coming back to in the future.  Let us know what you think of the game, or just the video, in the comments below!

The Twinstiq Podcast – Episode 5: The Twin Stiqs Back

Time for a new episode of the Twinstiq Podcast. We worked hard on improving the production values (honestly, we did. 30 very hard working minutes!), but we screwed up the audio. Very sorry about that, it should be fixed in future episodes, but sadly there wasn’t much I could do for this one.

We still hope you enjoy our talk and if you did, make sure to like the video on YouTube and maybe even subscribe to our channel if you haven’t done so yet. Didn’t like it? Fine too, leave a dislike and a comment on why you didn’t like it. From what we understand, any interaction (votes, comments, sharing,…) makes us more likely to be found on YouTube, and criticism helps us improve our content.
