New PlayStation Store Releases: BlazBlue Comes To PS4

This week, BlazBlue has come to the PlayStation 4 with the release of Chrono Phantasma Extend. No word yet on whether or not the game is compatible with PlayStation 3 arcade sticks (so, I'm guessing not), but it seems that Japanese peripheral maker Hori was nice enough to create a limited edition Chrono Phantasma stick that works with both systems. Could be a good investment, if you've got the scratch (and are able to find one). Also new this week, an ancient Konami arcade shmup, a Shonen Jump fighting game mash-up, and a Kickstarter horror/adventure game that just happens to have a file size of 666 megabytes. Crazy, right? Acquire a compatible fight stick, select your character, then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

New Steam Store Releases: Metal Slug (Not So Fast, Batman)

By now, many of you have probably heard about the numerous issues that this week's Steam release of Batman: Arkham Knight was suffering from. I was originally planning to make that game the highlight of this article. (I had a cool image picked out and everything!) But, owing to the fact that the game was receiving quite a lot of not-so-favorable customer reviews, as well as the fact that Steam has opted to suspend sales of the game altogether, I decided to go with my second choice.

For those of you who are unaware (or too young to remember), Metal Slug was a 1996 Neo Geo Arcade release. It's a side-scrolling run and gun action game similar to Contra (especially in terms of difficulty), except bigger, faster, and with a more comical style. It has spawned multiple sequels, and some of the characters have even appeared in other Neo Geo and SNK games. Both Metal Slug X (a rerelease of Metal Slug 2) and Metal Slug 3 have already been available on the Steam store since last year. And now everyone can try the game that started it all! (Personally, I love all of 'em.)Also released this week (and not suspended due to poor reviews) was the newly updated Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, the previously Nintendo-only puzzle platformer, Mighty Switch Force, and a pair of classic Total War titles (the first two games of the series, in fact). Insert two quarters, hit the start button, then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

  • Metal Slug (SNK Playmore, Single & Multi-player, $7.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition (Capcom, Single-player, $24.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Mighty Switch Force! (WayForward, Single-player, $9.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Shogun: Total War (Creative Assembly, Single & Multi-player, $9.99)
  • Medieval: Total War (Creative Assembly, Single & Multi-player, $9.99)
  • MotoGP 2015 (Milestone, Single & Multi-player, $39.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Super Star Path (DYA Games, Single-player, $2.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Dwarven Brawl Bros (Dwarves Might Fly, Co-op, $6.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Streets of Fury (Guard Crush Games, Single & Multi-player, $9.99) (Controller Support)

New Nintendo eShop Releases: Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time

It's a double shot of dual-screen downloads this week as Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time and Star Fox Command both come to the Wii U Nintendo DS Virtual Console. Also out this week is the Inuit indie game Never Alone. And that's about it. Not a bad week, though. Partners In Time, in particular, is definitely worth checking out. So, go grab your bro and your former self, then jump past the break to see this list of new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: “I’m Batman!”

This week, I've got three words for you: Batman. Arkham. Knight. Whilst Steam users seem to be having their fair share of issues with the game, PS4 players everywhere are sitting pretty (in their batmobiles) right now. Sorry PC crowd, it seems that you are still an afterthought to some of the bigger publishers out there. As if getting the best version (currently) of the most anticipated game of the year wasn't enough, PlayStation fans also have access to a few other exciting games today. These include the new, updated version of Devil May Cry 4 (which ironically happens to feature a Dark Knight mode that is unrelated to Batman), a new jet ski game by the makers of Hydro Thunder Hurricane, a port of the excellent WayForward platformer, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, and finally, a true PlayStation 2 classic, Suikoden III. Become vengeance, become the night, then jump past the break to see this list of new releases.

New Nintendo eShop Releases: Holy MOTHER!

At long last, Mother 1, or "EarthBound Beginnings" (as the localized version was apparently retitled), has been released outside of Japan! Twenty years after giving us the Super Nintendo sequel, Nintendo has seen fit to grant the numerous requests from fans by finally letting us have the NES original (by means of the Wii U Virtual Console). Between this game, the Final Fantasy 7 remake, and the Shenmue III Kickstarter, I'm starting to worry that the end times may be upon us. Better go download this quick and start playing before the seas begin to boil! But wait, there's more! As if one awesome VC release wasn't enough, act now and you can also get Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, absolutely *free! (*After paying a one-time purchasing and handling charge of $7.99.) Unfortunately, that's about all there is this week. But what a week it's been! Wait 20 years for your pleas to be heard, then jump past the break to see this list of new releases.

New Steam Store Releases: LEGO Jurassic World

Releasing alongside the new movie this week was the LEGO video game adaptation, LEGO Jurassic World. The game actually lets you play through the plots of all four Jurassic Park movies, so if you are a fan of the series, or dinosaurs in general, or virtual LEGOs (or all of those things), you may want to check it out. Also on the Steam Store this week is a new Alone in the Dark game, a physics puzzler with a pen and paper art style, and a crazy underwater crustacean shooter. Play God with your LEGOs, then venture past the break to see more of this week's new releases.
  • LEGO Jurassic World (Warner Bros, Single-player & Co-op, $39.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)

New Nintendo eShop Releases: Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon comes to the Wii U Game Boy Advance Virtual Console this week. Specifically, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, which, itself, was a remake of the earlier PlayStation Harvest Moon game, Back To Nature. For those unfamiliar with the series, it's kind of like FarmVille, except that the Harvest Moon games came out way earlier and were infinitely better. Also out this week, LEGO Jurassic World, and a new version of Dr Mario for the 3DS. Reap what you have virtually sown, then jump past the break to see more of this week's new releases.

New PlayStation Store Releases: The Elder Scrolls Online

This week, the new releases are a bit sparse on the PlayStation Store. Though they do have a couple of heavy hitters. Namely, The Elder Scrolls Online and Gradius. As much as I appreciate Bethesda bringing The Elder Scrolls universe to the PlayStation 4, I think I would rather see them provide us with an Oblivion/Skyrim collection (and make them playable on a Sony console for once). Maybe they could throw in an HD remaster of Morrowind to sweeten the deal.I am pleased to see a great arcade classic like Gradius hit the store. In addition to last week's release of Renegade, along with Q*bert, which has been on there for several months now, the PS4 is starting to become quite a little retro arcade machine. ESO and Gradius aside, the only other notable release this week is a Japanese dungeon crawler for the Vita. Create your character, select your class, and then venture past the break to see this list of new releases.

New Steam Store Releases: Massive Chalice

This week, Double Fine drops a massive deuce (sorry, couldn't resist) onto the Steam Store with their second Kickstarter game, Massive Chalice. I actually don't know much about this game, but since it was made by Double Fine, I will be cautiously optimistic. Also out this week, a great-looking arcade shmup called XIIZeal, a pipe puzzler from the Mighty Switch Force series, and the highly controversial twin-stick shooter, Hatred (from the appropriately-named developer, Destructive Creations). Make a big splash and then venture out past the break to see more of this week's new releases.
  • Massive Chalice (Double Fine Productions, Single-player, $19.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • XIIZeal (Triangle Service, Single-player & Co-op, $11.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Mighty Switch Force! Hose It Down! (WayForward, Single-player, $2.99)
  • Hatred (Destructive Creations, Single-player, $19.99) (Controller Support, Steam Achievements)
  • Sparkle 2 (10tons, Single-player, $7.99) (Steam Achievements)
  • Adventures of Pip (TicToc Games, Single-player, $14.99) (Controller Support)

New Harvest Moon Coming to PC!

Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories was announced this week on the Natsume Inc. Twitter, but that isn't the most interesting piece of news in that tweet. No, the most interesting thing is that the game will be coming to Wii U, iOS, Android, and PC! Hit the break to hear my thoughts on this most intriguing of news pieces.
Now that all the posers have left and it's just us good friends, I have a confession: I freakin love me some Harvest Moon! There is something about the simplistic farming and NPC interaction that draws me in like magnet. It's the same reason I played Minecraft, because I used it as a farming simulator. Sadly, it was lacking in that respect and so it didn't stay in the rotation long.I've been waiting for what seems forever for a  PC version of Harvest Moon, a reason I found Wild Season to have such potential. Now it looks like we'll be getting a proper PC game out of the deal, but the announcement of iOS and Android as well has me worried. Will it be a terrible cash store bananza? I hope not, and the fact that it's on the WiiU as well gives me hope that it'll be a true sequel, but only time will tell.

What do you think of this announcement? Are you excited? Do you not care? Are you already playing your old Harvest Moon games because the addiction is back in full? Let us know in the comments below or shoot me a tweet @Amuntoth.
