Xbox One Wireless Adapter for PC: Is it worth it to you?

Earlier this year information was released about the Xbox One wireless PC adapter and it's date of release. It seems that the adapter itself will be available on October 20th and will allow you to sync a controller with your PC and stream your PC and Xbox games to Windows. All for $24.99.

The package will also include a USB extender for the adapter. Say your computer is in one room while you've decided to run a long HDMI cable to your sixty inch TV in another room and you want to use that as your monitor, the USB extender will make sure your controller is still in range so you can do that.

Microsoft's page (from the link above) says that the adapter will support up to eight wireless controllers and up to four chat headsets or two stereo headsets.

Cool in theory, though this information isn't all that exciting to me personally. Firstly, wireless stuff isn't important to me almost 100% of the time. Secondly, the adapter will only work with Widows 10. At least for now. Thirdly, this adapter is slated to cost $24.99 (which, honestly, may not be so bad considering it's abilities).

So what do you think? Is this adapter worth the cost to stream your games on your Windows 10 PC? Or are you satisfied with wires and not changing batteries like me?

New Nintendo eShop Releases: Yoshi’s Woolly World

This week, nearly four long months after it was released in other countries, Yoshi's Woolly World will finally be available on the Nintendo eShop in America. Now everyone can partake in the fuzzy, woolly, yarn-aesthetic goodness. I just hope it was worth the wait.

Also out this week, the totally rad Game Boy Advance port of Final Fight (itself, ported to the Wii U Virtual Console), a Goosebumps game by WayForward, and a game that combines action-adventure gameplay with pinball. Touch fuzzy without getting dizzy, then proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

There Will Be No New TF2 Halloween Event This Year

One of my favorite holidays is Halloween. Not because of all the candy, but because of Team Fortress 2's yearly Halloween events. What started out as a King of The Hill map and a ghastly gibus quickly transformed into blown-out boss fights and carnival games. They really brought new life to TF2 every year, and the costumes were a funny way to add more spice to the game.

Last year's event had bumper cars, rubber ducks and a Rocket League style football match.

New PlayStation Store Releases: Back to the Future!

So, Back to the Future day is nearly upon us! October 21, 2015, to be precise. If you've seen the movies (hopefully everybody has), you should remember that as the date that Marty and Doc time-travel to when they visit the future in Back to the Future Part II.

Although mankind has seen many cool technological advancements since that 1989 film was released, it's a shame we still don't have hover cars or hoverboards. Or power laces and smart jackets, for that matter. No Jaws 19, either (though that one's probably for the best).

Crazy as it may seem, there is one prediction that might just prove to be true (sort of). In the movie, a hologram billboard congratulates the Chicago Cubs on winning the 2015 World Series by sweeping Miami. Well, it just so happens that the Cubs actually made it to the playoffs this year! Not only did they make it, but they also just won their Division Series, and now advance to the National League Championship for the first time since 2003!

They may not be facing Miami in the World Series (not only because Miami didn't make it to the playoffs, but also because they are both in the same league and couldn't play each other in the World Series anyway), but should the impossible occur, and the Cubs win it all this year, it would be nothing short of legendary. (It is important to note that the Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908.)

Anyway, presumably in honor of the fast-approaching date, (as well as the 30th anniversary of the original movie) Telltale Games has released an updated version of Back to the Future: The Game for the PlayStation 4. The 30th Anniversary Edition now allows you to play the game with the character of Biff Tannen voiced by the actual movie actor, Thomas F Wilson. Play it on October 21st, as you cheer the Cubs on (hopefully, to a decisive victory) in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series.

Also out this week, a hack-and-slash Dragon Quest game, Wasteland 2, and the next entry in the World Rally Championship racing series. "I wish I could go back to the beginning of the season and put some money on the Cubbies." Proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup

The Battlefront Beta is in its final stage and after a somewhat lacking first impression, I did gather a bit of a fondness for it. The shooting is lacking, but the overall atmosphere and the inclusion of Power-Ups did win me over in the end. So it’s no wonder we see the game twice in today’s Weekly Webcomic Wrapup. It’s the same joke, but it still gave me a good chuckle…twice.
That said: Empire is OP. Read more

New Steam Store Releases: Transformers: Devastation

I'm still sticking with Transformers: Devastation as my pick of the week. It was definitely the stand-out title on the Steam Store. If you ever wanted to play the perfect video game adaptation of an iconic '80s cartoon show, this is the one you've been waiting for.

Also out this week, a monkey action puzzle game called Ookibloks, another entry in the World Rally Championship racing series, and a mid-'90s adventure game featuring voice acting by Corey Feldman (another icon from the '80s). Decepticons...Rise up! (And proceed further to see more of this week's new releases.)

W.R.U.P The Bored Edition

I've been away for a week and the first thing I see on the front page is a very awkward yet appealing gluteus maximus, otherwise known as a 'butt'. Loved the article by the way Grey. Alright let's start this wrap up right by talking about a game that is on sale on Steam that might be a decent buy if you're looking for something to waste time on or even if you're looking for a new 'scratch that itch' game.

If you haven't already picked up Darkest Dungeon it might be the time.

Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic rogue like turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Can you keep your heroes together when all hope is lost? - Steampage

Yes it is in early access, but this isn't one that's going to stay in early forever, from what I've read the game is close to release with only a few minor bumps to iron out. Also from the reviews being mostly positive I might actually snatch this one up too.

On a side note, I'd like to say that I've fallen to temptation. Yes, I, Tisnight have started playing Destiny. *Pauses as the audience screams in horror* Alright, calm down, it's actually not as bad as I was lead to believe but it's still not my cup of tea. Haven't been in a shooter mood as much I've been in a simulation mood, and that's where prison architect has been scratching my gaming itch.

But enough about me, what else is everyone playing?

Greywolfe(Youtube, Twitter): I've picked up from where i left off with Rex nebular, which probably means that I'm going to also pick up Inca once more.  i think that game is pretty close to being done, anyway.  World of Warcraft has me in another night elf zone trapped in some caves [again.] - and police quest 3 /just/ made me book a drunk guy.  i remember that there's a cut scene right after that that /actually/ gets the plot of the game moving [80/410 points later.] - other than that, I'm trying to play a bit of banjo-kazooie.  i dunno how that'll go.
Andrew(Twitter):Batman: Arkham City and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition.
Dr.S(Thomas) (Dead)(Twitter): I will sit my strap my girlfriend to a chair and do bad things to her. Nah, nothing filthy, you swine! I'll let her play The Beginner's Guide, which put me already in a state of perpetual depression. Or is Assassin's Creed: Unity responsible for that? Playing Undertale probably isn't helping either. God, what am I doing to my fragile psyche?
Yoda0VGs (Twitter): More Dota and maybe some Battlefront if I can stop being cynical ;P
Dante: Hearthstone (this week's brawl is a lot of fun), TF2 and Dragon's Crown.

My thoughts exactly.

Alright guys I'm outta here.

New Nintendo eShop Releases: 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Classic Sega title and actually good Sonic game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has been released on the eShop this week. And in 3D! Some say that Sonic 2 is the best game of the entire series, others might prefer the original. Personally, I like 'em about the same. Either way, they are both great fun and they are both now available to enjoy on your Nintendo 3DS.

Also out this week, a new entry in the Chibi-Robo series, a new JRPG that looks a bit like Bravely Default, and a pair of semi-popular indie games. Get your red and blue 3-D glasses, throw them in the trash, then proceed further to see this list of new releases.

Opinion: He’s Just Not My [Body] Type

AAA gaming seems to be in a rut of making perfect protagonists. That is: body perfect men in their prime who can shoot guns and wield swords and do all kinds of crazy stuff. Most of these men don't have an inkling of self-doubt. Once they set themselves on a course, they follow through with nary a second thought.

There are no Mario's or Guybrush Threepwood's. In other words, there are very few actual human beings with flaws who aren't Adonis-type men. And that, I believe is a problem. Read more

Humble Bundle Presents Humble Monthly

Humble Bundle is now entering the monthly subscription business. They offer a highly curated list of games for the monthly price of $12. If you subscribe, you'll receive a new bundle of games the first Friday of each month. The monthly bundles are set to start on November 6th and they're currently giving away a copy of Legend of Grimmock 2 to early adopters.

You'll get individual Steam keys for each game in the bundle. In the very likely case that you already own one or two of the bundled games, you could give them away as presents to your closest friends. The bundle contents will remain a mystery until said Friday, but if you choose to wait for it to be revealed, you won't be able to purchase it. In other words, you'll be buying a mystery box for $12.

Humble Monthly is a new kind of bundle that delivers top-notch games straight to your inbox, once per month. If you’re interested in joining, head on over to the Humble Monthly tab atHumbleBundle.com

Membership starts at $12 a month.

Once you’re signed up, you can look forward to 11:00AM PST the first Friday of each month as the day new games are unlocked. The bundle contents will be top-secret until that day.

If you haven't subscribed by the time the games are unlocked, you'll miss out on that month's content (except for the instant-unlock game). You will be unable to purchase bundles from previous months.

Remember, the early bird gets the bundle. Don’t be the late bird.

As a personal opinion, I think the price is a bit steep. With $12 I could buy 4 or 5 games selected by myself during a Steam sale. On the other hand, I think Humble Bundle is really good at selecting great games for their famous indie bundles. I'm not sure what to think, my wallet says no, but I think it could be a pleasant surprise if I gave it a try. It's a good thing that there's plenty of time to think about it. What do you think?
